1. Hmmmmm . . . that's how I make it

when I want to make "traditional" popcorn, but I never heard of removing the pan once the 3 test corns have popped. May have to try that technique.

Although there are some pretty good microwave popcorns out there, my favorite is the pan method. I use my mom's 55+ year old stainless steel pan.

2. Question

it says pour the popped corn into a large bowl. Keep doing this until all the corn is done. - so are your supposed to pour them off while some are still popping?

3. Exactly!

If you keep shaking the pot, the popped kernels will rise to the top and you can lift the lid and pour it quickly into a bowl. It keeps the popcorn light and fluffy and ensures almost all kernels get popped.

4. Definitely going to have to try this

I'm always looking for the perfect popcorn method. Thanks!

5. OK tried this twice

The pot I used is a standard revereware 3 qt pot. The first batch I used the suggested 1/3 cup oil and 1 cup of corn. I think I poured off the popped kernels too soon though and got popcorn all over the kitchen from popping kernels. The popcorn was excellent though - no burned kernels whatsover.

The second batch I figured let the popcorn rise higher before pouring it off, and that worked great. I also used only a 1/4 cup of oil and it was fine. Again, no burned corn, and only a few unpopped kernels.

Very nice method! Thanks again for posting this!

franksolich used to pop popcorn a lot--one of my favorite treats, with plenty of salt--but after I found out Frito-Lay sells popcorn in $2 bags, I gave up making my own and dine on those instead.  Easier, cheaper, cleaner, quicker.

That's a lot of popcorn 1/2 a cup is what it recommends on the bag and that damn near fills up the pot I use.

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

Why do DUmpmonkeys make it so hard.
Pitch bag in microwave, remove when it's done.
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”
