Georgia church gives away 100,000 lbs of food to 9000 people today

http://www.ajc.com/news/gwinnett/lilburn-church-distributing-100k-1486846.html

More than 100,000 pounds of food, from cereal to produce to canned soup, was set up on tables for the thousands who filed into the church hall, located on the Berkmar High School campus.

The event ran from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., but many, like Norcross resident Juanita Kennemore showed up early.

"I got here at 6, because we have no food," said Kennemore, who is disabled and lives with her two children and two grandchildren.

Even before the distribution began, the sanctuary was packed with more than 400 people, and the line leading into the building stretched out the door, along a shaded breezeway and into the parking lot.

10. Moving in the right direction?

There seems to be a movement ongoing for churches to actually adhere more to the teachings of Jesus. They seem to be turning their backs on the fractious "Thou shalt nots" and embracing the loaves and fishes approach. This is an improvement, imo. However, true progress will be made when American Christendom realizes that local churches cannot truly "teach people to fish". Giving a fish to a hungry person is often needed but local groups can only help so many. To help millions you need, yes you guessed it, Government. People seem to be choosing love over hate but it remains to be seen where this will finish up. With financial stagnation and climate change and peak oil we are going to need GOOD government more than ever. Let us hope that evangelical brain cells start firing and some actually Christian practices begin to be the norm among those claiming the title....

WTF?  Almost all churches have some method of providing food for people that need it.  They've been doing since, well since there have been churches.

Maybe those pro-abortion liberal churches are different.  Ask them for food and they hand you a form for food stamps and bus fare.

My church is in an affluent area, so we go into poorer parishes (inner cities) and do soup kitchens for them.

These people are insane, you can tell they don't know a darn thing about Churches, the Churches around here have hot lunches for people, and there isn't 1 Church that I know of that doesn't have a food bank. At our Church people drop off food during each Mass, you have seniors who volunteer at our food bank, also we're discussing making donations of school books, backpacks, pens and pencils for kids going back to school. Pull your head out of the sand and you'll see what the Churches are doing.

I'm all for this but wish there was a way to tell the needy from the greedy.

Right, we collect food nonstop at my Methodist church.  Mostly goes to the hispanic community or that is what we are told it is targeted for.

All the churches around here that I'm aware of either run food banks or donate to those that do, even across domination's . They also do the school supplies thing in conjunction with the evil Walmart that does a one for one matching donation.
It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.

I forgot that my parish supports two local food pantries, and two Birthright crisis pregnancy centers.  One of the local food pantries has said that they get 80% of their donations from our parish.

I can't believe no one from over there has railed on about the church being located on the grounds of a High School. I guess it's ok for God to be on-campus as long as He's giving them their freebies.

Greenbriar perhaps?  But, she's rich; Coach bags, Pink Lady pistol.  Why would a good prog be taking food out of the mouths of the least able?  Because she's a greedy bitch, that's why, and shining example of a 'good' prog.

All the churches in my area donate to several soup kitchens and pantries.  This has been going on for as long as this little town has existed.  No one, no one, ever, is turned down for food assistance by our churches and never have been.

Not only that, but she was thinking about "placing an order" with the foodbank, and was wondering how the quality was.  I'll never forget it.

You would think that the liberals would know about the food banks, I mean, I am sure they frequent there quite a bit for their daily meals and all.

I bet we can count on on hand how many DUchebags give to charity. More than likely count it on one finger.

How much did Slow Joe Biden give to charity last year? .001% of his income. Of course that was ten times more than the year before because it's an election year.

The left is the least tolerant, least charitable, and least intelligent. On the other hand the left is the most hateful, most lazy, and most ignorant. All of what they yell and scream at us is all that they are.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

God help us all. Why am I not surprised that the DUmmie comes to the conclusion that government and only government has the power to help people. The church and people of faith have been taking care of those in need  for a very long time and without any government help or interference. If LIBERALS all of a sudden admit that the churches and it's members are capable of providing needed services which include food distribution, helping the homeless, providing counseling for everything from drug abuse to family problems and the list goes on, then why do they continually attack Christians and Christianity and have repeatedly tried to bring the churches under some type of government control by passing laws that violate Christian doctrine, restrict the location and numbers of churches, attempt to stifle their free speech and by attempting to tax them out of existence.

To a LIBERAL government is their only one true religion. They believe that with government all things are possible and that bureaucrats are more qualified to run your life than you are.No matter what amount of feint praise they heap upon the church at DU or anywhere else, they are lying. What they really want is to destroy the church and Christianity in this country. That way there will no longer be any opposition to the promotion of their immoral beliefs and policies and the government will become the one true God. LIBERALS will then line up to bow at the alter of their God and sing it praises. Actions speak louder than words and I don't believe one thing that LIBERALS tell me.

And Christians--good, Godfearing Christians--enrage DUmmies.

Some people just desperately want to believe that nothing good can come from religion and people who ascribe to Christianity.  I go to an urban church which has an incredibly busy foodbank, regular meal programs, ESL classes, refugee assistance, and all kinds of good stuff like that - just like every other Catholic church I've ever belonged to.

Not to discount other denominations - it's just that I know more about the Catholics being one.

A great book recommended to me by Newt Gingrich was "The Tragedy of American Compassion" by Marvin J. Olasky. Charity has become very corrupted by libs.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.
