Viva la failing France!

Vive la France! 75% tax rate for France's top earners and DU doesn't give a shit.

http://www.france24.com/en/20120228-hollande-sarkozy-elections-france-tax-rate-super-rich-top-earners

<>Socialist Party presidential candidate Francois Hollande has set his sights on taxing the rich with plans to introduce a 75 percent tax rate for France's top earners. Hollande said it would be a “patriotic” move to revive France’s ailing economy.

<>Taxing the rich has become a hot issue in an election campaign marked by worry over the economic crisis and rising unemployment, which now stands at nearly three million.

<>"I have seen the considerable progression of the pay of the CAC 40 (benchmark French stock market index) bosses. Two million euros (a year) on average. How can we accept that?" he asked.

Yep ...they get it! Our government assholes and some people don't ...or maybe they do and will fight to keep it that way. Hey ...at least some others know what should be done and have the guts to do it ...and they are making our assholes look as bad as they really are ...rich f*cking sociopaths who control our country. Will we ever have a leader with the guts to do something about these rich bastards? I don't think so. What we need IMO we are not going to get with any elected (bought and paid for) US politician.

3. I agree. We need the money and they need to be kept in check.

And there you have it. It is more about punishing the rich than anything.

4. We might want to ask why the French consider this and our elected assholes won't.

Are they (the French) more "patriotic" than our elected politicians? IMO ...yes they are ...so much more that they (the population) are willing to protest enough to stop the whole country. It's a sad thing that we won't do the same ...and that really should shame those that talk up patriotism and profess to be patriotic. They are full of 100% pure bull shit and can go sell their cheap Chinese patriotism to f*cked up repukes and anyone else who thinks they can be patriots and let the f*cking rich go on destroying our country with their unrestrained greed. I can't imagine fighting for our country and then come home and find that the greedy rich sociopaths have destroyed what was fought for. Can't even find a f*cking decent job!

Ya think I am pissed off?

And in a year or two the tax revenues will be at or near the same level they are now. However, other countries might see their revenues go up.

This has got to be a mole.

6. This is a step in the right direction.

As you can see from the US Tax below (from 1955) it can go higher than 75% and still not have the crushing tax burden we once 'enjoyed' in this country.

Obviously it should be adjusted for inflation, but this is a perfectly reasonable example of how you pay down debt from wars.

Take it right off the top.

I don't think the DUmmies want to return to those tax rates for everyone, just the "rich".

So, a crushing tax burden is enjoyable?  I guess that DUllard didn't notice the rates below $50,000.  They start grabbing 40% of their pay and the screaming will be deafening.

Okay, but is he a candidate or has he won? And even if he does, doesn't France have checks and balances like we (used to) have? Just because someone's says they're going to do something doesn't mean they will...candidates (0bama) say anything to get elected. And just once I'd like to have one of them explain why a 75% tax on "the rich" is patriotic? I can understand why they think it's "fair" but I fail to understand what it has to do with patriotism. Of course, then one must wonder how they think "the rich" are going to meet payroll...

In their convoluted thinking, the "rich" will be taxed so much, they'll be on even ground with the employees, so everything is equal. Meeting payroll, insurance, the overhead, all of that doesn't factor into their pea brains. They just want everyone to be equal in pay.

DUmmies. You stupid, Michael Moore-believing, 0bama-worshiping morons, back in the day of the 90% tax rate, nobody ever paid it because they learned how to hide their assets.

They're sure in a big hurry to proclaim it brilliant before finding out if it'll work or not.  My bet is on FAIL.  The big advantage of the Euro from the view of the intended victims of this tax is that the Euro makes their wealth far, far more portable than it would ever have been if it were in the form of French Francs.  An irony, is it not so?  Ois, c'est pas.

They're already hightailing it to Switzerland!  Who wouldn't?  You'd hardly get homesick.  And Switzerland has its arms wide open to welcome them with a hug and kiss.  Unlike they'd do for the freeloading DUmmies, who are  desperate to find a country that will let them come and leach.

Cindie, he did win, but the tax has not yet been passed (I think.)

Old Joe Kennedy surely did; and in the end, he paid a smaller percentage than those in the lowest bracket, the $0-2,000 per-year bracket.

Joe Kennedy didn't give any fifth of his income to the feds, no way.

Loopholes galore.

The richest woman in America at the time, circa 1960, paid zero in income taxes because of loopholes.  I forget her name--she was the daughter of some multi-millionaire in tobacco or Graham crackers or something--and had an enormous income, millions per year in interest.....from tax-free bonds (a loophole).

She was the reason the "alternative minimum tax" was created during the 1960s.

Nobody, but nobody, paid 90% of their income in taxes when that was the highest taxable rate.

Nobody.  Period.

And the DUmmies always forget that.  Period.  The tax code was entirely different in those days, but the tax code is way too complicated for them.  Then again, those are the people who constantly screw up the terms return, refund, credit, deduction, exemption, refundable, etc.  Remember the DUmmie girl who was utterly bewildered by the concept of depreciation?

37. France needs a 100% Exit Tax

Since French republican party-type ingrates made their money on the backs of their productive workers, they should NOT have ANY money allowed to leave the country. If they go to London, Switzerland, or other GOP-esque tax havens, their money should stay in France and be repatriated and returned to the people.

This will stop the current mass-exodus of the thousands of rich Romney's leaving France.

Doris Duke maybe?

I ain't got time to look her right now.

I thought it was Doris Duke, but that didn't sound quite right.

Maybe Marjorie Merriweather Post of Post Cereal money?

Anyway, about the time Ike and Jack were president, the late 1950s, the early 1960s, she was raking in millions of bucks every year from tax-free municipal bonds.

Didn't have to pay a cent.

This, under a "90%" income tax rate.
