I found it to be a very informative website. Sad to see it go, but alas it has run it's useful lifespan.  :cheersmate:

But I hope you checked it out before you did that, to see the farewell message.

Oh yeah.

It still strikes me the wrong way that Socialist Steve Dawes is part of the 1% when it comes to politicians who have their official campaign picture taken without an American flag in the background.

ROFL very nice indeed :D
"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

You ain't kidding - I just got to experience it on a 26 inch wide-screen. It was a life size Dawes right on my PC !

True; in Bellevue, Nebraska, it's a good idea to have the American flag in the background, or at least an American flag pin on the lapel, when campaigning for public office, no matter how minor.  The couple of times I ran across other Democrats running for one office or another in Bellevue, yup, they had the flag.

Now, I'm getting slowly geared up for "Be Nice to the Primitives Week," which starts in a few days, and so I'll say this: perhaps the studio portrait was taken for more than one purpose.  After all, professional photographs aren't cheap.  Maybe the long-suffering Marta also wanted a "nice" photograph of the big guy for when after he's no longer in this Time and Place, to slip inside of a Bible or something, for her to gaze upon when she needs something for solace in her widowhood.

Bible?

Well, you know, generally women tend to outlive men, and wives husbands.

Not 100% true, but pretty much generally true.

And Marta's in better shape than the big guy.

I'm sure that while wearing her widow's weeds, the long-suffering Marta, seeking solace in her loneliness, is going to well-thumb a Bible.

Vaya con Dios, www.electstevedawes.com.
You served your purpose well, exposing a DUmmy with dangerous political aspirations (It may have been just for City Council, but even a DUmmy just running for dog catcher would be potentially dangerous) for the brainless, egotistical, cowardly, ghost- chasing, laughably pathetic, Socialist nincompoop that he is, and helped ensure that the good citizens of Bellevue would be able to rest esy knowing that he isn't in aposition of authority over them.

Well, I don't know about that.

I sort of thought that photo was intended to have a caption saying "Before".

So long, Friends of Steve! you will be missed. Whoever you are, you are all brilliant.

But Steve, you should know...Its not just the Cave that watches DU and laughs. No. Its ALL the internet that watches DU and laughs. that should clue you in to...Nah. Steve. You belong with the clueless souls at DU. DU will never know why the real world watches and laughs. I could spell it out for you, but it won't sink in.
Just know this, Steve: You will never be alone.

:cheersmate: Mr Mannn ate some mini-tacos. Mmmmmm, good!
