Made boeuf en daube the other evening. MMMMMMMM...........

Chunks of chuck, carrots, onions, mushrooms, garlic, red wine, beef stock, tomato paste, herbes de provence..........2 hours in the cast iron dutch oven at 350F.

Heavenly........

Oh my again.

franksolich dined on boeuf haché sur le pain with pommes de terre sautées swimming in crème acide and a tasse de café, all for $4.75, at the local VFW club about an hour ago.

1. I love this. I also make it with some Asian flavorings -

soy sauce, ginger, sherry, 5 spice powder. Cook until it's falling apart and add potatoes and carrots for the last half hour.

One of my favorites.

3. every beef dish like this is delicious

I keep going back to bourguignon every month or so. A bottle of wine lasts for that and two batches of sauce for pasta.

From the pictures of the cleanliness in some of their home pictures I bet the dinner was more like Baff-N-de-toilet.

JohnnyReb... :rotf: :lmao:

Yeah, what's with the Asian spice with a potatoes-and-carrot type American stew?  And why the French name for beef stew?  I love it when they get pretentious with food, it's so funny.

I throw stuff like that together now and then.
I call it two-dog-stew.
(Don't ask what's in it.)
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

Apparently poor addled grasswipe knows a restaurant that occasionally tosses beef burgundy into its dumpster.

It's doubtful the homeless hoboette can risk cooking in the abandoned bodega where she sleeps.
