Children have every right to be at a protest about tuition hikes. Jesus, who do you think will be paying those tuitions in a few years?

Would I take my child? No, because I realize there are asshole security guards like this at college campuses (because I go to a college that has one). But I don't think a child shouldn't be there at all - I would have expected a peaceful protest for something like this. I guess there's no freedom allowed anymore. Except for guns. Own all the guns you want but be sure not to peacefully protest

and both of my kids walked one with me when CWA went out. The oldest one was 7.

My kids now know firsthand that in this country, we have the right to peaceful protest and they, unlike yourself, would never blame citizens exercising their rights for police violence.

I brought my kids to several protests in the lead-up to the war that George W Bush was going to have anyway. You don't know what you're talking about.


You stupid, irresponsible ****s. It doesn't matter what rights you think your child has or how you think people around them "ought" to act. You don't stand your child into a potentially dangerous situation like civil disobedience based on how you think the police, or anyone else for that matter, "ought" to behave. Your first responsibility as a parent is to ensure the health and well being of the child. A child the age of the young girl in the photo can't take it upon themselves to run away if they see the situation escalating. They depend upon you as the parent to protect them, not use them as a prop or some kind of damn human shield. It doesn't matter if the cops are right or wrong, you have the primary responsibility for their safety.

You don't take your small child to the mall and leave them sitting alone outside while you go into a store to shop on the principle that others "should" leave them alone because they have a right to be there safely. You're supposed to foresee potential threats and head them off, no matter whose fault it may ultimately be if they are harmed.

I suppose this kind of attitude is to be expected from people so soaked in the entitlement mentality that they assume no personal responsibility whatsoever, and have so little respect for children that they encourage having them chopped up and vacuumed away from the womb and refer to them as "crotch-droppings" after they're born. Idiots.

I hope that CPS is called and they take the kid away from the irresponsi9ble parent. I got a hunski that says WIC, Section 8, EBT, and a myriad of other public funds are already being used for the child. The left's use of children is truly disgusting and can only scar them for the rest of their lives.

Funny, when I was 10 I was all excited because I was allowed to ride my big wheel around the block. I obviously wasnt exposed to the "right" things.

A few questions and some observations. 

Of course, the obvious, why was a child at a protest to begin with?

How much was the increase in the fees?  (Knowing DUmmies, probably $5.)

How old was this Santa Monica "student" to have a 6-8 year old child?

The cop appeared to be holding his ground guarding a door, in an entirely DEFENSIVE position.  IOW, HE was attacked first.  Action=reaction, baby!  Read Newton's Law.

The protesters look to be ANYTHING BUT peaceful!  Most appeared to be 20ish and up.  The guy under the firehose at least 30+.

Protests are held OUTDOORS, not in the lobby of an administration building.   :loser:

In short, the parent didn't bring the child to a "protest".  This wasn't a "protest", it was a mini-riot.

Over a hundred screaming demonstrators were trying to force their way into the already over-capacity meeting room, and the overwhelmed cops assigned to guard the door felt the only way to drive the rioters back was to pepper-spray them. As soon as this happened, one of the rioters yelled in glee,

“We won! We won! They pepper-sprayed us!”

Me and my kids have been to Tea Party party's...

Little different I would say, as we like to follow laws, act civil, not charge at police.  Oh wait there are a few police in our local Tea Party.  Even if I took them to a real "protest" it would be totally different.

And the person bringing a child knows this too. Ultimately, the hope is the child will basically be the human shield or deflector, but I guess DU sees nothing wrong with that at all? In more innocent scenarios, someone is not placing the child in an appropriate situation out of their own naivity.

A child has no business being at grown up business and I feel the same way when it's our side too. I don't think the child should have been at that one event where things got ugly with union members. children don't belong in situations that are tense by their very nature to begin with.
