That is about 100K too high.  And way too high for Speaker.

Cap their salaries at about $75K and see how many instantly bail.

Almost none of them.  Believe me, considering the personal wealth of most of the members of the House and Senate, and what they get while they're in there in the form of perks, etc., you could tell most of them they'd get $1/year and they'd be like, "Yeah?  So what?"

That was part of what we were discussing... take out most of the perks and bennies along with it.

I'll agree that the pay for congresscritters is inconsequential. Look at Pelousy and Boehner, two of the richest critters crawling those hallways.

It's all about POWER. Ego, pure and simple, along with the wherewithal to influence and craft policy for the benefit of oneself and those greasing those palms.

Seriously?  It's really peanuts for the level of responsibility involved.

About 535. would you do it for 75k/yr to maintain two households etc. Most HS athletic directors make more than that. I realize it's envogue to bash politicians but lets try and keep it real. Hell a lot of Teachers make that and more.
It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.
