Anyone else here use car wax in the bathroom?

We have really hard water where I am. I used to never be able to keep the water spots off the glass shower doors, even with squeegeeing after each shower they still got spots. Then I remembered how my grandmother used to use car wax on the mirror in the bathroom. It keeps it from getting foggy, or deveoping those streaks heavy steam can cause. So, I tried it on the shower doors and it worked like a charm. Best part is it lasts a long time. It usually takes about three months before I notice the water isn't running off like it used to.

I also use it on my bathroom fixtures now and they're all water spot free as well.

1. I have never heard of this.

But I like I am definitely going to try this out as we have hard water also and are always fighting the spots. Thanks!

4. You can use it on tile and fiberglass in the bathroom as well.

I do it on mine now and all I have to do to clean it is wipe it with a cloth. Just be very careful not to do the bottom of the tub like I did once. It was slippery as glass and it took a half a gallon of pickling vinegar to get it all up. Not my brightest moment.

7. You did us all a favorby warning us not to use it on the tub. It made me laugh just thinking about a slippery tub, and I would have been dumb enough to think it was a good idea too.

2. Interesting!

This is definitely worth a try.

I tried to use my granite polish on my formica (sp?) vanity. Do not recommend. It made a streaky mess.

Car was I can see though as it dries hard enough to buff out.

5. Yep. It dries streak free.

I use the cheap liquid stuff and just put on a thin coat. Let it dry to a haze and buff until it shines. Easy as pie!

I've done that to shine up old formica in various temporary quarters on ranches.  It does keep hard water spots from developing in the faucets and whatnot, too.  It at least looks nicer while I'm there.

Just be very careful not to do the bottom of the tub like I did once.

Those are the same people that polish their tire tread with ArmorAll.

I hate to agree with a DUmmie; but that really works. I have hard water and use it on my shower walls (fiberglass). But I've never been dumb enough to use it on the floor of the shower or in the tub.

It works as a great polisher for the brake disk rotors too.

I'm tickled by the thought of a lib slipping all over the seats, and steering wheel while trying to stand on the freshly armor alled tires and brakes.
