You know, by accident I came across something.

Pedro Picasso's not even a college graduate.

Probably he didn't score enough to get into one.

He went to some "art school," one of these nine-month places like junior business college or something.

I can't remember the name of the place, but I'm thinking it's one of those places that used to advertise in old magazines--"Do You Want To Be A Writer?" and somesuch--where the "student" was guided, via correspondence, by some famous artist (or writer).

I recall those full-page advertisements, but the ones for potential writers especially.  They promised a prominent writer would evaluate and grade a "student"'s work.  They seemed to always feature Faith Baldwin, but I doubt anyone remembers who Faith Baldwin was any more.

I was thinking more along the lines of those ads they used to have in magazines with a cartoon picture and if you could draw it, you could be an artist, too!  For only $99.95 in three equal installments they would send you a diploma as a graduate of the Acme Art Institute.  Sounds like Assman.

There was a "Famous Writers' School," the one I mentioned.

I think the other was a "Famous Artists' School," but I never paid attention because I was into writing, not "art."

It hardly matters. Pedro is among those countless millions of people who mistakenly believe that they have some unusual artistic talent.

Many of them are done the terrible disservice by a parent or teacher of being encouraged to pursue their "passion", to the exclusion of developing a marketable skill.

They end up like Pedro, or the chinless 'Bama butterball, with adult responsibilities and no preparation to address them.

At least Pedro, and probably the mandible-challenged chubette, have the luxury of living on the earnings of others. Most do not.

And at least in Pedro's case, no one wasted hundreds of thousands of dollars on a useless college degree.

So really those matchbook cover ads asking you to draw the fawn's head, or write a paragraph, are actually a less damaging waste of time for those misguided young people than mainstream universities .

That's the one!   That Atman drew that and his parents, feeling sorry for his lack of talent for anything else, told him he did a great job and look where he's at now!
