 Tuesday at 9 AM I finally get my new teeth

I go in to get the remaining 6 out (molars came out in Sept to give the gums time to heal for a good fit)


My disease has taken a massive toll on my body and especially my teeth. I am ashamed at the way they look because I was fortunate that my parents provided me with braces as a child (old technology during the 70's) Those braces and the technology they used probably took some of the enamel off around the gum lines. But, I was so happy to have the braces because my teeth were horribly crooked. The braces made them straight and beautiful. My parents sacrificed a lot to be able to afford braces for me and I took very good care of them. I brushed three times a day, flossed and had them cleaned every six months. Over the years, however, this shitty disease has caused them to rapidly deteroriate to the point that they just crumble.

After a great year of no hospital stays, we have finally come to the point that I can get new teeth. I have had several "fitting" appointments and picked out the color. SO tomorrow at 9 AM I am getting the last 6 teeth out and an immediate denture put in place.

I am terrified. I wish I could just be put to sleep and wake up when it is all over, but that is not the case. I will be given Nitrious Oxide and am taking my IPOD so I can drown out the noise.

Please send your prayers and good thoughts my way, I am scared as shit!!! Probably need a tranqulizer or something...I know I will be shaking when I get there. Thank God it is 9 am so that I won't have time to really freak out about it.

Pammy is bragging about how well off she is again.

My grandfather had to have most of his teeth removed due to cancer/radiation treatment and can't afford dentures. Not even through the VA. You going to donate the money for your set to him Pammy?

It's not a disease but we have very weak gums in my family (the recede quickly if not taken care of)...back when my grandmother was my age she lost hers already. Flossing wasn't a part of dental care. I've toughened mine over the years by rinsing with salt water & brushing very well along my gum line. I also go in to the dentist about every 6 months because even with flossing my dentist can clean more deeply than I can.

If I recall correctly, she said she had Crohn's disease.  A quick Google search shows that Crohn's disease can lead to periodontal problems in some patients.

It's very routine for an oral surgeon to use general anesthesia.

Exactly,had two lower wisdom teeth and a broken eyetooth taken out last March.
Was sent to an oral surgeon and put out for an hour or so while he pulled/cut them out.
He said he didn`t have to do it that way but really did not recommend staying awake for it.

I can`t imagine any reason they would for her either.
