I'm no art critic, I just happen to like this portrait of General Jackson, C.S.A. I think it is very well rendered because it can take someone like me who is not very much moved by oil portraits usually and it absorbed me. It made me feel like it presented him as a simple human being, which he was. No glory or anything, just a view of a man on a horse. A very important man shown in a candid moment.

That is a nice picture, very detailed. He looks like he is pondering life, his last battle, or perhaps his next battle. Or perhaps doing a general reflection...

Where did you find this oil painting, it looks like a photograph of the time painted over.   Too perfect, too detailed, and oh so heart rending.
