I've achieved every professional goal I ever had, civilian and military; I have a BA and three graduate degrees ("cum laude' for the JD); and I am on the verge of a retirement that will pay as much as if I kept working even without counting in Social Security a few years down the road.  What the HELL about them could possibly arouse my jealousy???

When looking at myself, I'm seeing a middle-aged male who's really accomplished hardly anything at all when compared with my peers.....if my "peers" are considered to be "all middle-aged males."

In fact, I've accomplished shit.

But when looking at myself as compared with my real "peers," males born deaf, I've gotten a Hell of a lot done.

I'm using the second, not the first, standard, when comparing myself with the primitives.

And when I use that standard, I'm mountains and mountains above primitives.

I can't think of a thing, a single damned thing, that a primitive has, that franksolich wants.

It's another example of them getting us 180 degrees wrong.  It's like when Skinner said there were "sites that whine about DU."  It's not whining, it's laughing at you.  Whining would be "why can't I be as smart as those fellows at the DU?  It's not fair!"

I suppose a new reader of DU might be jealous of their youth if unfamiliar with their real stalwart posters (An impression it would be possible to get from their immature incendiary writing, lack of reference to family, dismally poor financial and economic thinking, and general concern with the doings of youth), but once you learn a bit about them, you find out that anyone who isn't a paraplegic septuagenarian is in better shape, livelier, and far happier than the vast majority of the bitter losers posting on DU.
