The college football season will wrap up a lot earlier this season.

I'm talking about November 5, when Alabama and LSU play. I can't recall when I've ever seen two more dominant teams from the same conference, much less the same division of one conference. Either of those two teams would run roughshod over Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Stanford, Wisconsin, Kansas State, Clemson, Boise State, or any of the other undefeated teams out there.

There is simply not another defense that plays at the level of either LSU or Alabama. Not another team that plays more physical football. Not another team that is as complete. It's really a tragedy for the SEC that these two teams are here in the same year - if either of these teams had come along next year, then the SEC would extend its national championship streak to seven years instead of the six that will surely happen this year.

No one else compares. After these two teams play, it's all over. The SEC Championship game will be a 28+ point rout. The bowl game will be at least a 17 point win for either Alabama or LSU (unless it happens to work out that the two play). In 2005, there was Texas, USC, and everyone else. This year, it's Alabama and LSU, and it's just a shame that they have to play during the regular season.

Oh, I dunno.

1. I'd put Oklahoma in the mix right now.

The jury's still out on the rest. I think we have a better than average chance of seeing these two teams playing again for the NC in January.

As it should be.

2. Oklahoma has an offense...and a hell of a defense. It just sucks royally that if OU wins out, they have to play one of those teams down in hill-billy-land, erm I mean Louisiana (hehehe). There was an article out a few weeks ago about the BCS blues, which have been overstated according to the Big 12 blog dude.

OU played Florida in the national championship...in Florida (10 points).

OU lost to LSU in the championship...in New Orleans (a touchdown)

Yes they got murdered by USC in Florida- no excuse there for playing like crap.

Boise State was a quality loss, in OT, by a point.

OU got killed by West Virginia. So? West Virginia's usually good.

OU looks quite good this year, even when they play like crap. What's best is that they play it cool when the game gets close, especially in the 4th. That's a huge deal.

I suspect Oklahoma has a pretty good chance to play for the national championship, but whatever.

The primitives don't pay attention to what franksolich thinks.

It matches their uniforms, and acts like camouflage in home games. Its most effective when defending an opponent's attempt at deep passes as its harder for the QB to see the defenders down field.

I don't have any issue with a homefield advantage, but when it goes to the level of going beyond psychological stress (crowd noise, etc) to disguising the home team, it's too much and should be restricted by the NCAA and/or conference.

Texas Tech, because of how they screwed Coach Mike Leach to suck up to Craig James and his whiny kid, and Boise State, because of that abominable blue plastic football field, are two of my three least-favorite teams. Hate 'em both.

Myself, any more this season, given how abysmal we were against Minnesota, all I care about is that we somehow by the Grace of God beat that obscure state college in Pennsylvania, even if we lose all the rest of our games. 

And I was, as usual, happy to see Colorado lose.....again.....yesterday.
