Truth in Advertising at DU?
« on: August 18, 2011, 09:32:24 PM »

Yes, DU eats peoples brain!
Capitalism is based on self-interest and self-esteem; it holds integrity and trustworthiness as cardinal virtues and makes them pay off in the marketplace, thus demanding that men survive by means of virtue, not vices. It is this superlatively moral system that the welfare statists propose to improve upon by means of preventative law, snooping bureaucrats, and the chronic goad of fear.
 - Alan Greenspan, The Assault on Integrity (1963)

Only the primitives, who are fond of licking the boots that kick them, would miss the irony of having a forum mascot by the name of "Grovelbot".

Only the primitives miss the irony.....

"Irony," "humor," "wit," "satire," are all beyond the cerebral capacities of the primitives.
apres moi, le deluge

Milo Yiannopoulos "It has been obvious since 2016 that Trump carries an anointing of some kind. My American friends, are you so blind to reason, and deaf to Heaven? Can he do all this, and cannot get a crown? This man is your King. Coronate him, and watch every devil shriek, and every demon howl."

"Irony," "humor," "wit," "satire," are all beyond the cerebral capacities of the primitives.

Frank, Satire is built on actual facts, this came about over a couple hundred  + years ago with the British press and the beginning of the Cartoon age.   An off shoot to the Court Jesters that often lost their heads.

Satire is seeing beyond why the Emperor has no clothes, it is looking into WHY he is naked.

Dickens was a master at this, as are out Political pundendts and cartoonest today.    Few people are satirised  unless the public is becoming concerned about their behavior.

The liberals are not unlike their friends the Muslims that become enraged over a cartoon or speech that they feel is disrespectfull to their beliefs, their race, or their heritage.

However today anything goes with the Christian faith, few if any become upset with the defiling of Jesus and Mary.

Why is this so, the Pope has  and past Popes have been satirised and the Christians just don't seem to give a damn.

Interesting subject, do you Frank or others know why any of this is so??????
