Ok, I STILL cannot figure this out
Been in a long battle with some old friends from HS (they are RW conservative types) and I keep asking (but get no real response) the following:

If Obama (and liberals) are to blame for the economy and the lack of jobs here, why do so many on the right keep saying that people on Unemployment and such are lazy and just don't want to work and should have their benefits cut?

Either there are a ton of jobs out there and people getting help are lazy, or those people cannot find work. Which is it already??

How can you blame both Obama and those people needing help at the same time?

I just don't get it. Obama is the reason you don't have a job - but really you are the reason you don't. How is it the right is playing both sides of this and not getting called on it?

but unemployment benefits create jobs? These are two different things.

Easy, TSS -

*The majority of people who voted for Obama are the type that have no problem mooching off of society.

*The Government then increases taxes and fees to help defray the cost of the moochers, causing more people to become unemployed, as businesses can't afford to keep them anymore.

*The newly unemployed non-moochers end up competing for a limited set of available jobs, increasing the unemployment roles.

*Rinse and repeat.

So, what do I win ? Or will it end up on the back burner like a hand carved bust of The Impeached One that I won in a previous contest...

The real world isn't a zero-sum game, dipshit.  There can be multiple causes for a single phenomenon.  In this case, one could posit that Obama wants more people dependent on unemployment and voting Democrat, and lazy bastards on unemployment want to stay on it to reap the total free time lifestyle, if on a reduced budget; both causes are in accord, and contribute to the same result, they aren't mutually exclusive.

Now I'm not saying that this is what is going on by any means, it was just a mental exercise, because it's damned clear your mental needs a whole lot more exercise than it's been getting lately.
