A huge campfire.  I almost didn't know where to start.  Amongst all of the pissing and moaning, I found lots of DUmmie on Dummie action in this one, of which I rowed over three quick rounds.

Friday Night Fight Night!  Let's meet the DUmmie's campfire we'll be fighting around this evening: DUmmie cal04!:

An appeals court ruled on Friday that President Barack Obama's healthcare law requiring Americans to buy healthcare insurance or face a penalty was unconstitutional, a blow to the White House.

The Appeals Court for the 11th Circuit, based in Atlanta, found that Congress exceeded its authority by requiring Americans to buy coverage, but also ruled that the rest of the wide-ranging law could remain in effect.

The legality of the so-called individual mandate, a cornerstone of the healthcare law, is widely expected to be decided by the U.S. Supreme Court. The Obama administration has defended the provision as constitutional.

37. Most laws are written so that parts can be struck down without

bringing down the entire law. It's called severability. It would have been real amateur hour to leave this out of a controversal bill.

In three, two, one...

45. amateurs wrote this law

Roger Vinson, the federal judge behind today's ruling, agreed with plaintiffs who argued that if the mandate is unconstitutional, the entire law should be struck down.

That's because the legislation lacked the so-called "severability clause,"

http://www.aolnews.com/2011/01/31/severability-clause-at-heart-of-judge-vinsons-ruling-that-obam/

I have no idea if that's a reliable source (first I found in google) or if the supremes would agree. But I have heard this many times before with convincing explanations from reliable sources. There's also the probability that severability doesn't matter since the mandate is what makes the rest of the bill work. Without it, many other things would have to go.

Winner: alc

individual mandate?

And the individual mandate first showed up in Hillarycare?

I was not aware it was included in Hillarycare. Was it?

I must be living in that one time warp where Romney has never been a Senator or Representative.

she had no individual mandate until she ran for President. IOW, I probably had bad info.

That's why I only bothered to bring over the little amount that I did.  That thread has enough mess DNA to be a thread twice its size.

That thread is epic - and if the Supreme Court strikes down what is Obama's ONLY tangible 'accomplishment', 'The One' will get to run on four years of debt & misery for naught for his reelection campaign.

Oh, oh, oh...I thought of another accomplishment the Kenyan can brag about.

He shut down the U.S. space program, and redirected NASA to conduct outreach to muzzies, whatever that is.

Astute observation.  Now, if I can fumble around and see where I left my jug of mind-and-eye bleach, I'll be better.

133. Only way to get that is to move to a country with advanced politics. U.S.A. aint it.
If that wasn't so pathetic, it would be funny.
Quick, define "advanced".  No swear words allowed.
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

"Advanced" as in the enlightened politics of North Korea? or the People's Paradise of Cuba?
No right wing radio there. No govt handouts either.

How about "Advanced" as in socialist Europe? Oh wait...their economies are crashing and they are undergoing austerity measures...No free handouts there either.

The chi-coms are embracing capitalism....muslims hate gays and atheists...Canada is turning conservative, and Israel has Jews...

What nations are the DUmmies preferred havens? Not sure they exist anymore...
