I do think he was right that Pawlenty screwed himself completely tonight, though.

Way too much clutter in this debate... too many mouths flapping.

A good answer from Newt, but Wallace's reply was pretty harsh.  I felt it all the way over here.

dr nutz is up

Please tell me why anyone with more than five functional brain cells considers this guy a serious candidate?  He's the right's version of Dennis Kucinich.  Actually, those two agree on a lot of points.

Your question is rhetorical, but I'll bite -- I think he appeals to those who are disaffected with both political parties.

Ron Paul doesn't have the guts to stay within the Libertarian party, because he knows it's a lost cause, so he's going to cloud the Republican party with his level of insanity.

That kind of hypocrisy apparently doesn't register with the Paulbots, so that's what we get -- scads of folks who are sick of the Washington two-step but somehow believe that a 3rd party is going to make the butt-hurt go away.

He sure did bring his troops to the debate last night, didn't he? Everything he did or said got loud applause.

Judging by the coverage I've seen this morning, it doesn't seem to have improved the position of any of the front-runners, nor to have turned any of the also-rans into leaders.

yes his initial answer was good. wallace's reply was harsh, but it was newts rebuttal at the end that dealt the KO punch. slamming the media for not distinguishing all Rep. candidates from Obama.

my take on the debate, the top runners maintained their pedestal, Bachman, Cain, Romney did no harm. 3 of the bottom feeders, forgot their names because they are meaningless, ate their scraps. paul pleased his followers. and newt, who was thought to be down an out, actually put up a fight and gets my "debate winner" nod. im not saying he put himself on top in the RACE, just the debate. After winning this battle, he still has a long way to go to win the war.

Yeah, a lot of people are saying Newt made the most impact in the debate, just as far as debate performance alone goes.  It still doesn't make him a viable candidate though.

I guess his answer seemed that way at the time.  I was not expecting him to stand up to Gingrich.

I think Wallace is an asshole and is into gotcha questions. If I am not mistaken, Cain has lost a bunch of his campaign employees. Who really gives a shit though?

One thing that did irritate me was the fact that the moderators allowed Dr Nutz rebuttal time on practically every question. I bet his air time was far more than Newt, Romney or the rest of the candidates.

I watched most of the debate on you tube this morning.

Some did OK.  I liked Newt's response to that idiot Wallace.  Ron P. still sounds like a moonbat to me.

It's time to start narrowing the field though.  I just hope that Romney isn't the nominee next year.  If he is, Obama may very well get a second term.

Different strokes for different folks. I like Wallace. He's not afraid to ask politicians anything, and he won't step back from his questions. If they don't like him, that's a great + in my book.

Yeah, I think Wallace is one of the few reporters who won't just take a non-answer and move on.  I like that about him.

I thought the question was stupid. After Newt answered the question, Wallace got his wittie bitty feeling hurt and had to make a counter attack statement. I don't like Wallace nor most journalists. They are always trying to create sensationalism.

Do you have a problem with York asking Bachmann a question about being submissive to her husband? You better believe Hillary wore the pants when it was a family; a man would have never been asked that question. Another chicken shit and rather sexist question if you ask me.

Overall the debate was pathetic in that the panel allowed Paul to hog more of the time than others, and a number of the questions had little substance in defeating Obama.
