Oh my.

This is a double-feature, two campfires.

I got out the boat and rowed over to General Discussion on Skins's island, but it's jampacked full of the primitives jibber-jabbering about things of which they know naught, so I decided to wander over to the cooking and baking forum to see if Mrs. Alfred Packer, the "hippywife" primitive is back.

Alas, she isn't.

1. Some people love it enough to eat whole jars with a spoon

It's too icky sweet for me.

Besides, I like my chocolate dark, bitter, and unadorned.

2. I love it.

But, I can only eat half a jar with a spoon.  It's good in small doses. I like it on fruit, such as apples or bananas.

3. I bathe in it. I love it. I think of it as a food group.

By the way, it isn't chocolate, even though it tastes chocolaty. It is hazelnut butter with a small (but intense) bit of cocoa in it.

6. The only thing I don't like about nutella is them marketing it...

...as a healthy breakfast for children. Many DU-ers agree with me on a prior thread. Shouldn't be marketed to moms as healthy breakfast for children. Children shouldn't be eating either sugary cereals OR nutella for breakfast.

And one shouldn't be charging the rich less than what one charges the poor.

9. I was in the UK recently where there is a vigorous ad campaign promoting Nutella as part of a "healthy and balanced breakfast"--- said breakfast also features milk, a banana and high-fiber bread... aka a good breakfast w/out the undoubtedly-delicious-but-let's-be honest-it's-dessert hazelnut and chocolate spread.

That said, put it on a crepe w/whipped cream and enjoy a few seconds of nirvana!

12. Not good.

It's sinfully fabulous! I like to dip thin pretzel sticks into the jar and eat it as a snack.

13. I love chocolate hazelnut spread, but Nutella is all sugar....

As one other brand that I ate recently notes, "Nutella tastes like cake frosting because it has as much sugar as cake frosting." I like chocolate hazelnut spreads with less sugar. They're hard to find, though.

14. Divine! I eat it straight from the jar

some of it makes it into food, but it is hard. Whatever I make with it is great though.

Re: Nutella. You guys really suck. Nutella sucks too.

Because of you guys...I went out purchased some.

It has completely disrupted my household and I have purchased not one but TWO jars this week alone.

SO...while my family thanks you...you guys really suck!

Next time someone asks you how Nutella is...you must say how much it sucks...and leave your dirty little secret of the Nutella and it's propensity for divineness to yourself.

It's the right thing to do--this stuff could crash the economy!

1. LOL! When my daughter was in college, I'd always include a jar of Nutella in her care package! She loves the stuff. Me? Not so much as I'm not really into chocolate all that much.

3. And don't put it on graham crackers for s'mores either. Awful.

franksolich has no opinion, positive or negative, about Nutella, but perhaps others here might.

Despite wandering through a grocery store for the better part of an hour every week, I have no idea what "nutella" is.

I guess it's for democrats like vegemite in Australia, or Spam in Hawaii. Red state hell is not nutella territory.

A bunch of looney nuts sitting around eating Nutella. I bet the Nutella is more intelligent than the looney nuts.

  • Not right, but not left, either.
You would think a DUmmie chowing down on Nutella would be considered cannibalism.

Sugary huh? Well, that might explain the "Free Dental Care" bus at the school house for the "free meals" kids.

I love Nutella, but I rarely eat it because it really isn't healthy.  Really great on bananas  :-)  There is a crepe restaurant on the street I down to get to my Saturday class, and they have huge jars off Nutella sitting in the window.  My final is next Saturday, I might have to indulge  :-)

My ex-wife used to make sandwiches with Nutella, honey and sliced bananas, way too sweet for me but she loved them.

If it's not in the peanut butter section your store doesn't have it. It's ridiculously expensive. Peanut butter (the best tasting ones have no sugar, IMO) is healthy and an excellent source of good fat, in moderation. Love it on apple slices.
