The Dummies are in for a shock this fall ,winter, and spring.
The midwest and southern droughts, floods and disasters will cause the price of corn and potatoes to go through the roof. I do not know how the wheat production is going--scared to inquire.
I have taken to buying bags of frozen corn when on sale, poking a few holes in the bags and vacuum packing them for the freezer. Also bags of dried corn to put up, same as dried beans and peas.
It has been a horrid year for crops, some farmers are selling off half grown cattle as they cannot feed them to full growth. Same reason I buy at least one large box of dry milk a month. Yuck but there are ways to make that stuff taste good.
Chickens eat corn, expect the cost of chicken to go sky high as the huge amount of corn they are fed causes the industry to produce less.
In my area the cost of potatoes, fresh is outrageous, Buying five pounds of frozen potatoes when on sale cheaper then fresh, vacuum sealing and freezing them also.
Hubby stopped at Demoulas to pick up a couple pounds of tomatoes and came home with vine ripened still on vine tomatoes ----All the store had that day---cost $5.00----Product of Canada. Cost was by pound and the thick vines added into the weight.
We can live without Lettuce, celery and cocks,---little nutrition, but the cost will to those that dine out will go sky high.
As the Primitives worry about their snack food prices, they miss the point, real food is going to cost them so much, they may have to forgo junk food that will cause loss of millions of jobs in one way or the other.
Heck, a loaf of non white bread is at $3.00 a loaf now. Just wait until the cost of eggs goes to $3.00 a dozen +.
Then the riots in the streets when the price of beer goes up to $15.00 a six pack for BUD.
