For the racists at the DUmp.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Laughingman just harshed their mellow.
Definate plus one for the atta-boy.

(dats you, laughingman)

I actually got called out on that list where I originally posted it and had to remove it.  Liberals are all about free speech when they are bashing whites, men, Christians and conservative Republicans, but don't you dare post words from the dictionary!  Here's what I posted in its place:

Quote
This post has been thoroughly sanitized and censored by the resident
facist regime.  You will find no trace of offensive
things like the unoffensive dictionary definitions of words such as
"cracker," "niggardly," "honk," "uvula," or "water buffalo."  You
will also find no discussion of offensive things like cows and
chickens being slaughtered and processed for human consumption by
people who belong to labor unions.  Any and all references to
liberals, Democrats, atheists, "festive" people, Al Gore, Bill
"charming" Clinton and his ex-president wife Hillary, Tom Dashcle,
will always be positive while references to conservatives,
Republicans, fundamentalist Christians, President Bush, his daughters,
Rush Limbaugh, Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, and anyone else who
disagrees with the current regime will always be as inaccurate,
insulting, childish, negative, and intolerant as possible.  Lastly,
any jokes about women are completely banned and will result in
swift and deadly psuedo-warnings while jokes about men will be
made, laughed at and lauded at will.

That "Bill 'charming' Clinton" was a dig at one of the complainers who actually said she found that cigar-poking, dress-staining pervert "charming."  Ugh.

Here's an exchange that happened in relation to all this:

Quote
Complainer #1 to me: "look up the word liberal in the
dictonary, you know the book full of all of those strange words, and
tell me what it says...."

Me: "I'd better not.  I'll probably get in trouble."

Complainer #2 (the one who found Clinton "charming"): "Why would that be?"

Me: "you tell me"

Complainer #2: "Perhaps because "coon" and "chink" are different
than "liberal" - though perhaps not to you."

And then a private exchange between Complainer #2 and me:

Quote
Complainer #2: Which context would that be?  Use by somone with a demonstrated desire
and willingness to make racial and homophobic jokes, and in fact to gay
bash, or being used merely to make the point that repugnant slurs have
differing etymologies, but when alternate definitions are listed
together a pattern emerges - one in which the words are chosen with
one common thread:  all of them are highly hurtful and offensive in
other contexts?

Me: If you or anyone else is seeing offense in those words and
definitions, that's your problem, not mine.  Whatever "pattern"
you are seeing stems from your own overactive imagination and
hyper-sensitivity.  Such things are what leads people to see
offense in words like "niggardly."  You think my intention was
to hurt others.  I can assure you (esp. since I know myself better
than you imagine you do) that my intention - as stated - was
to return those words to their original, non-offensive meanings.
Of course, you can't see beyond your own bigotry to see that.
In your eyes, the way you perceive whatever words I use is
colored by your own prejudice.  You want to be offended by me
so you choose to see offense in those words and definitions.
Again, as I stated, people who do that need to take a long,
relaxing vacation and stop being so niggardly with the English
language.

  • All in all, not bad, not bad at all
You may recall the controversy a few years ago when a white employee lost his job in the District of Columbia mayor's office after using the word
"niggardly" in a meeting. Most of the democrat base would have no doubt that's an offensive racial slur. A lot of them are DUmber than poor, stupid Beth Ferrari, but they're also not on the innertubes, so her distinction as the stupidest person on all the internets is safe.

That incident was the primary reason why I came up with that list.

Pipi_K (Now THERE'S a cool name for Gungeonite!) experiences the normal reward for rational posting on DU...well, except I don't think she's gotten the granite yet...

Radar showed rain your way Texacon.
Any luck?

Skul, I just got back from my ride to Dallas.  The wife says we got sporadic moisture but wouldn't call it a sprinkle.  How 'bout y'all?  Any luck?

Tenth of an inch.
Just made the grass hard.
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

That sux.  There was a 40% chance yesterday before I left.  I sure was hoping to get home to some soggy ground.  Hell, I was hoping I would ride home in the rain.

Keep the faith.  We'll get some soon.  I'm praying for a tropical storm now.

I'll take one of those, too.
Fair chance for rain tomorrow.
We'll see.
