Oh my.

I haven't been active in the DUmpster lately, and thought I should remind the primitives that franksolich is still watching them.

But alas the cobweb-infested cooking and baking forum is deader than a doornail, until Mrs. Alfred Packer returns.

Ribs on rice

Take a rack of ribs and cut them up so they will fit in your crock pot. Add a can of your favorite baked beans, then a half can of water. A can of Del Monte Sloppy Joe sauce. A finely diced yellow onion. 2 table spoons of Cholula sauce. A minced clove of garlic. Let simmer on low all day and serve over rice with plenty of napkins.

Skip the onion, and don't forget to pile a mountain of sour cream on top, then you're all set.

3. Pulled pork also works great in the slow cooker

3 pound butt roast
your choice of dry rub - I used Emeril's Creole Seasoning recipe
1 small onion chopped
2 cloves of garlic, chopped
1 bottle of beer (recipe called for root beer but we had a stale bottle of Samuel Adams Blackberry beer hubby had forgotten)
Some liquid smoke
Some molasses (to make up for the sugar that would have been in root beer. If you don't like sweet BBQ leave this out.)

Simmer on low all day. Shred the pork. Remove most of the liquid from the cooker, and put meat back in. You want enough liquid to barely moisten the meat. Add your choice of BBQ sauce, heat through and serve however you like.

Whatever.
apres moi, le deluge

Why, in the name of all that is holy, would anyone do this to perfectly good ribs?

My thoughts exactly.  Someone needs to be throat-punched for ruining a perfectly good rack of ribs.

But forced into a choice, I'd rather eat that than Greenbriar's watery potato soup littered with peas.

Right, madam; either are good on their own, but not together.

It's a much needed break from the silly, over-emotional, tantrum political posts.

Rockman, we like to laugh at what the DUmmies eat.  Many times, it's pretentious, and other times, it's downright God-awful.

After I posted, I realized that there is a good chance that the person who made up that recipe had a case of the munchies.   :stoner:

Hmmmm...a lot of their money saving tips on buying food involve both large sacks of beans and/or rice. Maybe this DUmmie followed this advice and is stuck with a pantry full of both. If so, beans and rice are going to be a major ingredient in any recipe whether if it calls for them or not.

I have a good amount of beans and rice put back.  It lasts forever.  But I damn sure ain't gonna mix them with ribs and sloppy joe sauce.

Heavens!  Where did this thread come from?  Still a funny gross recipe.  And another thing, from page one.  Pulled pork with blackberry beer in it?  She meant this as a substitute for root beer?  What the hell is blackberry beer anyway?  Maybe I'm just too much of a purist.  My husband asked me once if I wanted cheese on my BLT, I looked at him like he had two heads.

There's no food that cannot be improved by adding melted cheese and bacon bits.

Just one more reason to punch them in the nutsack.

Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”
