Colorado teachers union challenges arrest disclosure rule

The Colorado Education Association has filed a lawsuit, claiming the rules are "arbitrary," "vague" and an "abuse of or a clearly unwarranted exercise of discretion," the Fort Collins Coloradoan reported Friday.

The union wants a judge to throw out the rules because they may harm a teacher's reputation, noting that arrests represent an accusation of wrongdoing, not a finding of guilt. The union also said it's possible that a teacher could be mistaken for someone else arrested with the same name. ...

No sympathy from here.  You do the crime, you get lots of free publicity.  You don't want to have your name known in any way connected to crime, then don't do it.  Pretty simple.

Why should a teacher be allowed to escape the consequences of an arrest then anyone else?

I'm with CG on this one. Getting tired of hearing "it's all abut the kids".

I feel compelled to offer an eloquent rebuttal to that notion~ Horseshit!

I've had plenty of personal experience with being in unions, all of it negative. In the People's Republik of Neo York there is no choice between joining a union or not, no opt out.
Again we are seeing the unions for what they really represent, an effort to carve out a separate place for themselves above the law and beyond what everyone else is subject to. Special this, special that and screw everyone else that isn't part of the "in crowd".

This isn't about the kids at all, it's about throwing the kids under the bus. F*ck 'em.

Interesting, just baby steps here, baby steps until.

We find down the line that the police are bared from reporting the name of any person in the teaching profession to include private instructors in water skiing to horse back riding.

News papers cannot publish the names of anyone in that profession for any crime up to Murder.    All court cases are sealed, because they are --protecting the identity of the alleged victim.

We have an interesting case here in NH at the state university.   A tenured professor was arrested by the police for exposing himself to a woman and children in a parking lot of a local store.

The University fired him under the conduct clause of gross actions.   For months this teacher has received his salary even as he never taught.    He the Creepy Crawlie went into Arbitration and to the dismay of the College was found not gully of violating the contract. 

Now the College has to pay him any back wages and allow him back in the class room. He  has the right to ask for a BUY OUT for thousands of dollars to get the hell out the school.

So what to do, if he goes back to teaching he can for a few years still get his $80 grand salary and most likely have overflowing classes of kids that find the teacher ---interesting.

Say, I was taught German from a pervert, how cool is that??
