So Halperin called POTUS Dick.... and
we have strikes in Athens... we have a general strike in the UK.... the debt ceiling....
Well... what if he was a dick? Sure, not a nice thing to do... so we are annoyed because he called another MAN a dick? Get a grip folks, there are things a tad more important than the show of mirrors in DC...
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x1393251DUmmy Pedro Picasso disagrees with nadin. That is a really stupid thing to do when you are really stupid, and nadin is the smartest person in the world.

1. I disagree. The editor of TIME magazine holds weight.
And he called the President of the United States a dick.
How does that help the situations you've described? Democrats get fired, Republicans get a big laugh. **** that. We need to draw the line somewhere. I love you, Nadin, as crazy as you are, but you're just wrong here. Kumbaya is a suckers game.
Pedro's ass is going to be kicked six ways from Sunday.

3. This is not kumbaya
MSNBC can do what it did... but the level of distraction over this here is what is maddening. It is the new shiny, and it works like damn clockwork.
By the way, so we are clear... am I also paranoid?
Yeah, Pedro, do you have the nerve to say nutcase is paranoid? (Nebraska is basking in leaked radiation as we speak.)
Pedro surrenders:

10. Actually, he said Obama was "kind of a dick."
So I guess that means he wasn't totally a dick. I don't know. Still seems a bit inappropriate for the editor of a national news magazine. But maybe I'm just being over-sensitive.

21. He's been suspended 'indefinitely' for the remark. And, yes, it
was inappropriate. I imagine, however, that many of them say things off-camera, which he thought his remark would be, that would get them fired if they were to say them on the air. Maybe if they spent their time on actual news, they would be less inclined to sink to these levels on or off camera. I guess I don't expect much from most of them anymore.

2. Amazed at how many supposed smart DU'ers are not understanding the point.
He is the editor of TIME magazine.
He is a so-called journalist.
Is there a reason for people to get pissed when a so-called journalist acts like a partisan jerk off... you bet.

4. And you were surprised a "smart Journalist" acted like
a partisan jack off? We have been in that environment since the 1990s... back to the future insofar as the US Media is concerned. It is NOT the first time the POTUS is called names... it used to happen like clockwork in the hearst papers back in the day, before either of us were born by the way. So we have gone back to THAT normal. And I am not surprised either.
Nadin knows everything. She is never surprised.

13. There you go
I used to read it regularly. Oh and for the record the INTERNATIONAL editions of time are that much superior to the pap they put up for national consumption,
The INTERNATIONAL version of anything is superior to the crap we get in the United States.

Again---the Editor of TIME magazine shouldnt be calling POTUS
a Dick on National television.
Dude should be fired because he's lost all credibility.
Nadin gives a lesson in U.S. history:

16. Alas he won't, he will be suspended
and in six months will be back... like it used to happen back in the day. The golden age of US Journalism when they hid their real private thoughts lasted a generation... and it was the exception, You are seeing a true normal for the US. So the head editor of hearst papers called McKinley names... and... the country went on.

insert shiny here, is all we talk about. This is the current shiny. Mea culpa for starting the thread... just wanted to point out how much of a shiny is.
On a tin foil hat moment, I suspect some are manipulating the shinnies to keep the distraction going,
Okay, people, stop manipulating nadin's shinnies.
BULLY ALERT!! BULLY ALERT!!

That's mighty lofty of you. Gee, whatever would we do if we don't have you to tell us what our priorities should be?

34. Nope, I know most folks will continue to be distracted
that is the way it is... not an arbiter, just pointing out that the media is manipulating things FOR A DAMN REASON.

19. Yep is the shiny effect and no I don't expect it
to go any different.
Tomorrow it will be a new outrage... to distract us from what really affects my life.
Yep I might take issue with Halperin using names on national tv, to use the current outrage... but it does not affect my life one iota. Not solving this little issue with the debt ceiling will affect my life in the most negative of ways.

32. This is the great misunderstainding
a country defaulting will affect you personally whether you have credit card debt (which we don't) or not.
Having been in a country that went through that in a much smaller way... I get it.
Know-it-all nadin always gets it.
Know-it-all nadin is working herself into midseason condescending, offensive form. Pretty soon the DUmmies will rebel again:

42. can you say depression?
Can you say less services? Can you say an austerity plan that will make Greece look like a very liberal and progressive system? This is why some in the GOP may want it... after all destroying the safety net is their objective, but a default will make it that much easier.
Take my word on this... you will feel it... and if you work for a company, for example, that has any government contracts, whether local, state or federal, those contracts have a very good chance of going away.
That is but one of the most obvious examples.
A default is not fun... even if your personal debt is zero... it might also include lovely things such as currency controls... Oh and this will be worst for the US since the Dollar will no longer be a reserve currency... which could easily lead to hyperinflation.
