Well, finally!

I have a new puppy! Mule, that is! Momma finally decided she couldn't hold it any longer! I was amazed to find out horses can hold up the birth of a foal if they feel threatened.

I had an Appie that was a total terror in the next pen, and apparently momma decided she was a threat! As soon as I moved the Appie, she had her foal 2 days later!

Nice of the ****in' vet to let me know of this after waitin' 2 stinkin' months and never sleepin' more than 2 hours at a time for the duration!

Besides missin' the due date by 6 ****in' weeks, he neglects to tell me a horse is one of the only species who can pull this trick off! ****in' prick!




I'll be back later, gotta head to the feed store for grain! Go figure!

Congrats!!! I miss having horses. The first horse we bought was in foal and no one knew it. We cut back her feed and kept tightening the saddle!!! Anyway, we finally figured it out and she had a cute little guy we named Smuggler.

Well I'm thinkin' he should have! Apparently my mare decided to hold off because of what she perceived as a threat from a competing mare. Once I separated them it was no problem. I had no idea a mare could postpone birth if they feel the foal will be threatened!

Been around horses all my life and never heard that they are a species that can prolong birth if threatened. Even after the vet clued me in, I had to look it up cause I didn't believe it possible.

Color me educated!
