I participated in a military base flea market over the weekend
Edited on Mon Apr-21-08 01:20 PM by lebkuchen
Set up my stall along w/a friend to get rid of the extraneous and unwanteds. To sweeten the deal we taped a big sticky onto a wayward Rush Limbaugh book, "I Told You So, free with any purchase."

We cleared about $400, as well as most of our stall, but all buyers refused the book.

We ended up putting "Rush" in front of the base dumpster, sticky still attached, "free w/any purchase" crossed out.

Balls.............lots and lots of balls

2. Military friend bought it at the Thrift Shop for $2.00 five years ago
thinking he would read what the gasbag had to say. He never got around to a read, and he can't afford the space.

What is interesting is that of all the military customers, nobody wanted the book, and some made some very humorous comments, like, "Sorry, I'm a liberal....Ooops!" putting finger to mouth as if having said a bad word.

We laughed like hell.

Balls everywhere..............

4. Yeah, and we really tried to ditch the book.
My friend stood in front of the booth, stopping every customer that walked by to hawk Rush.

FRIEND: I'll bet you have a need for a lovely solid oak cabinet, shipped direct from Belgium for just $40, AND with a purchase you get this free book. Schatzie, hold up the book so the customer can see it."

CUSTOMER: Well, I don't need the book but I'll take a look at the cabinet.

8. "Liberal Major?"
Man, this gang of thieves and lunatics is really in trouble.

May their rotten excuse for a political party stay completely out of power at least for the rest of my lifetime, until all the scum who have turned it into a racketeering organization are long dead, sinking into the corruption they created.

7. The guy in the stall next to us had read the book already
but the customers hadn't, and they didn't want the book. It inspired lots of funny comments, though, not too harsh since they weren't sure if they'd be hurting our feelings. It was a litmus test, and we were curious how the political winds were blowing on the base.
The GOP should be afraid.

So this wasn't done to help the military families and such................it was so you could get a gage of how the military feels............. :bird:

Oh and the majority of the miitary people I know wouldn't talk politics with strangers about politics.

I imagine she didn't sell it because everytime someone came to her stall she called them a baby killer and threw pig blood at them.

Don't you just love how they have to resort to lies to make it seem like they're having an impact?  There was no book (hey, DUmmie, the name of the book was See, I Told you so), there was no cabinet, there was no flea market.  It's all something the DUmmie made up to please his fellow morons.

I imagine the wares consisted of things such as "American flag ashes", "glass bongs" and "hemp peace-symbols".

ETA: Oh, and DUmmies, remember this. Yeah, the U.S. military hates Rush...

ZERO BONGS
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Man, I see so many bouncing balls in this tale, I feel as if I'm in a basketball manufactory.

And, one supposes, it perhaps never occurred to the liebchen primitive that many of those attending the sale already have or already read the book?

I don't even give this one negative bongs.  It's not on the scale anywhere.

None of 'em were interested in the book because they already had a copy and so did everyone they knew.   :-)

DUmmie never thought of that angle.   ::)

That book is 15 years old.  It is telling that its mere existence still bugs a DUmmie.

I bet what really happened was there was a flea market, might even have been on a military base, or former military base. I know Ft. Meade has one but whether or not booths are open to the public I don't know. However, I grew up on flea markets. My grandparents bought and sold antiques. The hippies are thick as thieves at those things. I doubt this idiot had anything a military person would want. So it was probably other dirty, smelly hippies coming up to its booth. Being fellow DUmmies I'm sure they had NO problem being "current or former" military. Seriously, I just don't know anyone in the military who will discuss political opinions with strangers. The most common comment I hear from the ones I know well enough to talk to about it is usually something along the lines of "I hate liberals!"

Must be either a non-ACC Air Force base, or she lives in the part of the housing area where all the MEDDAC people are.
