TV News this morning said used cars are worth 2 to 5 thousand more now than they were this time last year. The same year older PRIUS is worth $5,000 more now than it was last year. A DUmmie is born every minute.
My step-son wanted to buy a used hybrid to save gas on his commute to work. I told him hell no!.
Most of the ones he found were between 4 and 8 years old, and I reminded him that the battery life of most was between 5-10 years, so these cars were basically ticking time bombs before an expensive battery swap was needed.
He bought a used Cavalier 5-speed. He paid $2,500 for it, and could sell it tomorrow for $4,500 if he wanted to. 35 mpg and runs like a scalded orangutan!
Today, however, he took his Chevy Trailblazer. 18 mpg downhill with a tail wind.
