 "Heard on the radio" is a code phrase for "Rush said it". The opposite is true. The Cash for Clunkers program not only increased sales of new cars, foreign and domestic, but it also provided the used car market with a wealth of mostly resalable cars. I keep telling her that FOX isn't a news channel and Rush is a ****ing idiot, but you can't reason with a mind that is already made up. Obama is black and a Democrat so he's obviously evil.
 

He's so wrong, but he doesn't need to hear that from me....

Cash 4 Clunkers actually depleted the used car market and hurt poor people the most and helped foreign manufacturers the most.

Karin!  I saw this thread last night, and the utter stupidity of it almost made me sign up and start a mole, just to address the ignorance!  

Then, I almost brought it over here, but I was too weary after reading the stupidity.  

I feel so bad for Hope Hoops' Mom, I really do.  It has to hurt to know someone that stupid is your offspring.

Cash 4 clunkers was horrible.  They killed the cars.  That ain't right.

TV News this morning said used cars are worth 2 to 5 thousand more now than they were this time last year. The same year older PRIUS is worth $5,000 more now than it was last year. A DUmmie is born every minute.

My step-son wanted to buy a used hybrid to save gas on his commute to work.  I told him hell no!.

Most of the ones he found were between 4 and 8 years old, and I reminded him that the battery life of most was between 5-10 years, so these cars were basically ticking time bombs before an expensive battery swap was needed.

He bought a used Cavalier 5-speed.  He paid $2,500 for it, and could sell it tomorrow for $4,500 if he wanted to.  35 mpg and runs like a scalded orangutan!  

Today, however, he took his Chevy Trailblazer.  18 mpg downhill with a tail wind.   :rotf:

I paid about 5000$ for the amazing, powerful sports car ( :popcorn:) I have now. I've only ever bought 2 new cars and have decided it's worth buying used and have since.

The problem with cash for clunks that I see is that to many good cars got disposed of and not enough clunkers, which hurts those who can't afford a new car. I don't often say it but I agree with Rush this time.

Speaking of clunkers, I'm sure they would have gladly taken an old Buick off the road....
