Second quarter??? Hell, I haven't sent them the first quarter yet.

I think you would be better off to just save your quarters and buy the thing...or a lottery ticket.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

Wait a minute!!  You have to send them a quarter for chance to win??
Screw that, I'll keep my quarters for something important.  Like a beer. :cheersmate:
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

Piece of bubble gum is WAY more important. At least you get the fun of watching it roll round, and round, before obtaining your prize.

Hmm, when companies have contests, let's say Pepsi as an example, legally everyone is eligible to win a prize "no purchase necessary" does the same apply to websites too?

I bookmarked a thread, not their homepage. When I click on my DU link, I got to that thread page. I then hit Discuss then GD, GDP or whatever. I bypass all his BS. I never see the donation page.

ETA.

I see he has his donation status graph as a banner ad. I never noticed it there before.

Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

As I understand the law, if free entries are not permitted then it is considered a game of chance and classified as Gambling, and therefore illegal... California law regarding sweepstakes (I think the DU headquarters are in CA)

Mole hunt? Submit an entry without a donation and your mole account gets flagged and purged later? I would not chance it. It might be easier to donate an image of some money or hands or whatever.

You using a .22 LR, or a shotgun?

Technically, you don't even need to be a registered user of DU to enter:

Quote
To enter without donating, send an email with your name, address, phone number, and Democratic Underground username (if applicable), and the subject line "Golden Ticket Contest" to admin@democraticunderground.com. Limit one email entry per person for each giveaway

I wouldn't necessarily want to give that personal info to Der $kimmer.  And I'd be willing to bet the chances of winning without donating are exactly nil.

I'm not too good at edging, so I use a .22 caliber rimfire.  On occasion, I have went to areas that are restricted to shotgun only.

I can afford meat other than squirrel, but they make good suppers.  :-)
