A mob of protesters chased a would-be flag burner off the Louisiana State University campus Wednesday, ending the display before it began.

LSU graduate student Benjamin Haas had originally planned to burn an American flag reportedly in response to the recent arrest of another LSU student who stole and burning a flag from a war memorial. Instead, Haas agreed to read a statement.

While reading the statement he was surrounded by a large crowd yelling obscenities and chanting, "USA" and "Go to hell hippie, go to hell."

Ultimately, about 1,000 LSU students and other protesters forced police to intervene.

Oh, look, there's teabagger flags in that crowd...

3. Haas, the student who intended to burn a US flag, was protesting the treatment

of another student named Isaac Estava who was arrested for the suspected removing and burning of a US flag which was part the university's war memorial.

It was reported that Estava did such because he was upset with the death of bin Laden.

What's that term?

Oh yeah...

"Dirty ****ing hippy!"

7. We should all fear the Hecklers Veto

There was no heckler's veto. Haas pussed-out.

6. Yippee! First amendment rights for everyone!
Not sure how it can be bad for people of any and all opinions to express themselves.

8. Would you extend that to the FL nutcase who burns Korans?

No...because you disagree with him.

9. Unless physical violence was used, nobody's freedom of speech was prevented
The 1st amendment does not mean that everybody is forced to be quiet and listen to you.

11. How is anyone prevented from exercising their First Amendment rights here?
You have the right to speak, but not the right to make sure you are heard. Those booing are also exercising their First Amendment rights.

I agree that it looks like teabagger flags in the crowd, but don't see the First Amendment rights being taken away. What do you mean? Thanks.

Professor got schooled!

12. My thoughts exactly.
If the government shut him down because of his message, then it would be a violation of his First Amendment rights.

Assuming, of course, he wasn't inciting a riot or threatening violence.

However, in Rev. Dipshit's case, the government DID shut him down.

Never mind the stolen car he was driving or the drugs and paraphernalia in his possession.
If you want to worship an orange pile of garbage with a reckless disregard for everything, get on down to Arbys & try our loaded curly fries.

Must you always muddle things with the facts?
