Why not a windfall profits tax on gasoline?

ON anything over 3.00 per gallon?

How much money could they raise to pay down the deficit?

How about a windfall profit tax every time Nadin opens up her mouth? I thought so.  :whatever:

3. And then what?

Nationalise the oil companies and...? The price of fuel would still ultimately be set by world market prices for oil. The US imports over half of all the oil it consumes.

8. I don't buy oil I buy gas. And the profit incentive wouldn't be there

hence my gas would be cheaper and if there were profits they would go to the citizens.

Mind you I wouldn't waste my time trying to nationalize them. The effort would be better spent on better electric cars and moving to electrics. That is a solution that is doable.

Yep the smartest people on the interwebz.

It wouldn't be any cheaper. Not unless you find a way to make America use no more oil than it consumes.

My God, the stupid, it burns.

BTW idiots, Exxon made 2 f'n cents per gallon. The government makes about 50 f'n cents per gallon. Want to talk about windfall profits?

Teaching these idiots basic business economics, especially when it concerns publicly-traded companies, is a waste of time. They're still learning their multiplication table.

With thinking like this, it's no wonder little lord hussein didn't give this goon a "czar" position.

 :thatsright:

Hey, kin-****, how much tax revenue do you think you are going to collect when nobody can afford to buy the gasoline that you are quadruple taxing the Hell out of?  Let me save you some time and "brain" power - None!  You tax behavior that you want to limit and don't tax behavior that you want to encourage, stupid.

No, you chode-gurgling mouth breather, it wouldn't.  Electric cars require batteries to function - batteries that are as expensive as the First Wookie's grocery bill, require almost as much energy to produce than Mikey Moore hauling his fat ass off the couch, about as efficient as the US Postal Service, and requires more toxic handling to dispose of than a DUmmie's underwear.

Electric cars are crap compared to our current gasoline/diesel engines.  Want a better solution?  How about you step away from the battery BS propaganda and look into hydraulic hybrids.  Think maybe you can sober up long enough to learn something, DUmbass?

Well, Kentuck, that might make some limited form of sense if the dollar had some fixed value ratio versus the cost of a barrel of oil and the cost to refine it and distribute it as gasoline and diesel.  Of course Ben Bernanke's monetary policy has the purchasing power of a dollar diving like a Type VII U-boat trying to get away from an English destroyer, so instead you are simply demonstrating what a total emo simpleton you are.

This thread is...............................painful. These "people" should all die for being this stupid.
“The national budget must be balanced. The public debt must be reduced; the arrogance of the authorities must be moderated and controlled. Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”

You're giving them far too much credit.  I'd argue that most of them can't add or subtract, much less multiply.

Dear DUmmies.

Turn off your lights--about 25 percent of your electricity comes from gas and oil.
Don't drive your cars.
Don't eat--how did that food get there, how was it raised, harvested, planted, etc?

Oh, and remember what happened the last time the ****tard idiot liberals tried a "windfall profits tax"?  1979?  Remember that?

It's simple. When you get an oil change, you use five quarts. The next morning, in your garage, you see a couple of drops of oil that dripped on the floor. You used five quarts. You consumed five quarts plus two drops.

30 years ago, the X-wife's relatives from England explained to me that they didn't throw out the used oil when they changed the oil in their cars. They put it in a filter contraption in the storage room and over about a month time it would filter out all the impurities. They would then buy the proper additives for the oil and use that oil the next time they changed oil. Then they would put that oil thru the system and use it again, etc. and so on.

They told me numerous times that Americans were wasteful. :-) Our cars and trucks were to big and to powerful.....but they loved kicking a long nose, big block Chevy Monte Carlo I had.... :-)
