This whole thing gives me the creeps. It all seems very un-American and shady, just plain wrong.
Our military taking part in manipulating online public opinion, sewing the seeds of disinformation to frame the national debate and spread propaganda?
WHY ???
Of course this whole idea is being sold as a good thing, get the boogie man, etc. As with the steady erosion of our liberties via the Patriot Act this is purported to be aimed at "getting the bad guys" and "a good thing, for our safety".
I am calling bullshit on this one. this is 1984 and there is no other way to look at it IMHO.
Just plain wrong.
