Quote
Relatives of a missing UW student are asking for the public's help in finding her.

Her name is Marizela Perez and she apparently vanished at around Noon on Saturday, March 5th.

Family members say she was last seen in the Rainier Beach area, heading to UW Seattle campus to meet friends for lunch or study in the UW libraries.

They believe she may have traveled in and around Sound Link Light Rail stations, downtown/Chinatown areas, UW Seattle campus, and the U District.

She is described as Asian, stands about 5’5”, 110 lbs, skinny build, asymmetrical bob with short bangs and brown/red highlights hairstyle, tattoo on left inner arm with the words ‘lahat ay magiging maayos.'  She was wearing denim jeans, light brown suede laced boots, possibly wearing green eye contacts.

She may also be carrying a plaid backpack with a Macbook Pro laptop.

They say Perez was taking medication for depression.

Hopefully she will be found alive and well. :(

Michelle Malkin's father came from the Philippines.  That's in Asia, and they have Spanish as one of their main languages since the islands were Spanish possessions at one time.

Well, one of my daughter's friends has a Spanish surname and Filipino background.  Plus, I've run across some Filipino-Americans over the years who were in the military, or their spouses were.  Otherwise I wouldn't have known either. :cheersmate:

I bet they do look white.  Most dead people do after enough time passes.

The Filipino language is called Tagalog (Ta-gah'-low) and is closely related to Spanish, but has some interesting twists.

The article said that the girl had a tattoo on her arm of a phrase written in Tagalog - can't remember what it was, though, and I'm too lazy to look it up.

It's at the end of Michelle's article:

Quote
“Lahat ay magiging maayos” is Tagalog for “All will be well.”

It's also on the update from yesterday:

Damn, Gina, did you sleep through your years in the Navy?? Having been around Filipinos during my entire career, I learned that they had some Spanish influence in their lineage early on.

Tagalog is the major language in the Philippines, but there are a couple of other spoken languages, too. Those seem to be mainly in the outlying areas/ islands of the Philippines.

I knew that Thor, and I was never in the Navy.  My Moonbat English Teacher in HS served a stint in the Peace Corps in the Phillippines... :-)
