Natural Born Killers----OH MY   A satire on those news papers you find at the grocery store, that headline ---I was impregnated by an Alien from Mars.

I liked the movie but the 3 others with me had no idea what was going on.  I had read the blurbs on the movie so I knew it was a satire, the other 3 didn't.

They were not happy as I laughed at some of the bloodiest parts and cheered on the Killers.

They and I got into a bloody rowe ourselves after the movie.    When I pointed out that a female would not be held in a mans prison, they kind of freaked on me.       I had to explain that both of the killers were gay and one could not end up pregnant at the end of the film.

2 of the 3 I went to the movie with had--gasp-- college educations and had swolled the whole thing hook line and sinker.

I will not watch those Ghost storeys where a dead family member comes back to help the living.      Darn I keep expecting to see an ex-mother in law sitting on the edge of my bath tub giving me a bunch of bull shit.  Nor do I want to see my deceased husband come walking into the bathroom as I sit on the toilet just to say HI, how you doing.

I am willing to wait 12 months to see a movie on Cable that costs $5.00 bucks I can pack in the whole family to watch, provide soda and pop corn and save $40+ for 2 and over $100.00 for 6 0r 8 of us.----  What the heck in my home I will be able to control the audience, no talking or screaming baby's.

Not worth spending a fortune to watch a movie in a theater any more, have patience and wait for a good film to come to cable.

Up side , if the movie stinks, it costs just $5.00 and others can be chosen, so a family of 8-10 has to pay $ 20 to go through 4 different movies, still costs allot less then to view one movie that stinks at the theater.

How about that other enviro-kook movie from M. Knight, "Happenings" or whatever?  The trees are apparently tired of you pesky humans living on their planet.  You'll have to go now.  I didn't see it, just read a scathing review at the time.

I'm trying to remember the last movie theater I walked out of, but I think it was either 'Galdiator' or an M. Knight Shamalamadingdong movie.

Day After Tomorrow.

And Mr. Mann, cockroaches may have a collective IQ of 15 or so, so you know where the heroes of that turd belong - and how they survived, now don't you?   :-)

That's certainly the number one stinkbomb that came to my mind in this thread.  Of course there are so many movies that I never go to see exactly because I think they'll suck, but this one in particular I saw while waiting for a plane on a deployment so I really had nothing else to do but endure it.

Plan 9 from Outer Space, a B-movie from 1959, is pretty well acknowledged to be the absolute worst film of all time. A film that starred Bela Lugosi (sort of), Vampira, and a bunch of B-movie types that are all forgettable, and directed by Ed Wood, a cross-dresser and alcoholic-to-be, this film is so bad that it's good in its rottenness.

Yeah, but Euph, you really can't regard that as "the worst" (or at least I don't) for a few reasons:

--Ed Wood was a hack movie maker.
--Crappy budget.
--No studio backing.

So while yes, most of the MST3K crap does fall into the crap category, I rather suspect it was never meant to be taken seriously--more like a grad school film project, made more for shits and giggles than for art.

Now, if you want to get into "serious" releases, I submit to you the following criteria:

Major studio with promotion, budget, and stars to match.  IOW, there's no reason for these movies to suck, but suck they did indeed!

In no particular order, the "WORST" movies ever:

Battlefield Earth
Showgirls
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Howard the Duck
Gigli
Pearl Harbor
Xanadu
Alexander
Wild Wild West
Street Fighter
Highlander II: The Quickening

Well, you have a point. Ed Wood was an absolute hack movie maker who "specialized" in making B movies in that era. No budget to speak of and no backing. B movies weren't "art" necessarily, but they were an aspect of Hollyweird at the time that sought to make money primarily from the monster/nuke scares of the day. There's only so much "art" you can make from giant spiders.

But I think if you take a look at Ed Wood himself, you'll find that took himself VERY seriously. And his work as well. An eternal optimist, he really only declined toward the end of his life when the grand total of all that he had produced barely qualified as suitable for the cutting room floor. That didn't occur till the late Sixties though, and I believe he died in the late Seventies after he allowed himself to fall into the bottle.

Also for consideration - Wood's processes were totally ate up. Continuity was completely non-existent, editing was a joke, and certainly the acting was deplorable not to mention the shitty scripts that he wrote.

But yeah, the big-budget blockbusters that turn out to be giant turds stand out all by themselves. The only difference in the output is the size of the letters FAIL.

Lord of The Rings and Gladiator in this list!?!??!!? NO WAY!!!!!  Both of those movies were epic!

The rest of the lists I agree with except 2012 and Day After Tomorrow.  They had explosions, dead people, and disasters.  I love those things in movies.

Day After Tomorrow: I know a few people already said it, but my G-d what bullshit on a stick. I can't believe I actually bought that turd sandwich. The only redeeming thing is I got it at Blockbuster in one of their "Buy 4 Movies for $15" sales.

Enema... I mean Enemy at the Gates: Not really the worst movie ever, but I have a thing for realism when it comes to historical films. And seriously, WTF is up with British people in the key roles? I can get on Netflix and see a freaking Israeli movie about the First Lebanon War in Hebrew with Israeli actors (Beaufort, check it out. You can watch it online) why the hell can't I get a movie about Stalingrad with German or Russian actors? Oh wait, I can? That's right. It's a German film called Stalingrad. Those Krauts are known for their imagination, are they?

Dreamcatcher: Based on a Stephen King book of the same name. Had a lot of potential and an all star cast. Think, Aliens done my M. Night Shamalamadingdong.

Alexander: I think I've left more interesting things in the toilet. Particularly apropos with this piece of shit.

Kazaam: Saw this in elementary school. I'm still traumatized. Shaq playing a genie? Need I say more?

The Blair Witch Project: Saw the first 5 minutes. Apparently the rest wasn't that much different. Glad I didn't pay for that one.

Twilight: I took a friend to see this for her birthday a few years ago since I was the only one who remembered it and it's what she wanted to do. Somehow we're still friends... The only thing I liked about it was the filming location. Made me all nostalgic for the Northwest.

The ex-wife made me go see The English Patient.  We both hated it equally.  I don't recall an occasion that I wanted to leave a theater so badly.

Ironically enough, Seinfeld made an episode months later about how everyone loved the movie except Elaine. :lmao:

Chris, you didn't like that?  Really?

I enjoyed the various explosions in 2012, and Californistan falling into the sea, and it was pretty cool when the ship overturned.  It was the G-ddamned characters I couldn't stand.  Annoying, like that wife on Walking Dead.  Plus that whiney petulant morose kid.  And the ex-wife's unattractive new boyfriend.

Ya know what other kid I couldn't take?  The kid on Aliens.  Always, always screaming.  That movie WOULD NOT END either.  28 hours later, it finally did, with the same ending as the first.  Lame.
