I am getting a serious suspicion that we're being played for chumps.

Don't get me wrong, I'm totally happy that the people of Egypt were able to rise up and kick that billionaire asshole to the curb, but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't lose focus on who the real enemy is. I'm of course talking about this:

Oil Prices: Egypt's Crisis Could Hurt Europe First

Oil tanker in Suez Canal
Some crude oil prices brushed $100 a barrel Monday as fears escalated that the violence in Egypt would spread to other parts of the oil-producing Middle East. But so far, no reports have surfaced that the disturbances in Egypt have disrupted oil deliveries.

Brent crude oil surged to $99.97 a barrel on London's ICE futures exchange, up about 5% since the beginning of last week, when violence spread from Tunisia to Egypt. In U.S. trading, West Texas Intermediate shot up 1.7% on Monday, but was still somewhat cheaper than Brent crude, its European counterpart.

Julius Walker, a senior analyst at the International Energy Agency in Paris, says the organization has received no reports that oil shipments were being delayed, but the website of the agency that runs the Suez Canal has been shut down by the ban on Internet use in Egypt, so a precise reading isn't available.

And this:

Koch brothers now at heart of GOP power

The billionaire brothers' influence is most visible in the makeup of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, where members have vowed to undo restrictions on greenhouse gases.

Reporting from Washington — The billionaire brothers David and Charles Koch no longer sit outside Washington's political establishment, isolated by their uncompromising conservatism. Instead, they are now at the center of Republican power, a change most evident in the new makeup of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

Wichita-based Koch Industries and its employees formed the largest single oil and gas donor to members of the panel, ahead of giants like Exxon Mobil, contributing $279,500 to 22 of the committee's 31 Republicans, and $32,000 to five Democrats.

Remember, while we're fighting with each other over stupid partisan political nonsense, the real criminals of this country are getting away with it. We must stop it.

it won't affect you then.

That's a good idea. Oh wait, Demonrats won't let us.

But yes, we are definitely chumps. We've given lip service to energy independence since the Carter years and here we are with gasoline at $3.15 a gallon or more once again. You know what that means? Time to pimp the electric cars for a few weeks.

Yeah it is way past time to pimp electric vehicles. I'd go for the Volt, but with as much as I drive, a plug in hybrid wouldn't be practical. I'm personally thinking of going for either a Hyundai Sonata hybrid or a Ford Fusion hybrid.

15. If oil were priced according to true economic principles, we would all be broke.

The fact is, the government is playing stupid after being told that we had reached peak oil years ago. India, China and US are depleting oil at expanding rates, and we just learned that there are 300 billion barrels less in Saudi Arabia than we previously believed.

Welcome to the 21st century.

Wait, what?  Are you saying the oil companies should charge more and make more profits while they still have a product to sell?

Saudi Arabia will be last, but the House of Saud's days are numbered.

At that point, let the nukes fall where they may.

His profits from the mess in the ME will dwarf what others make.

The Muslims are gearing up for that final battle.

The Koch brothers = the DUmp's new boogeymen.

DUmmies couldn't survive without someone/something to blame for their woes, when all their "troubles" can be directly blamed on the reflection that stares back at them from the bathroom mirror every morning once in a while.
Murphy's 3rd Law:  "You can't make anything 'idiot DUmmie proof'.  The world will just create a better idiot DUmmie."

Liberals are like Slinkys.  Basically useless, but they do bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs...

Global warming supporters believe that a few hundred million tons of CO2 has more control over our climate than a million mile in diameter, unshielded thermo-nuclear fusion reactor at the middle of the solar system.

You can't fix stupid, but you can vote it out of office.

They must find something to distract them from the lack of perfection after Obama's election.  He was supposed to have everything "fixed" by now, remember?   :rotf: :rotf:  Instead, this world just keeps rolling along like always, with uncomfortable weather, bills coming in, work to be done, no free pony...

I hope they make a lot because if the DUmmies don't tax it away from them for FREEBIES, we're going to have to tax them out of it to fight the damn muslims.

They only want $5/gal gas if it's taxes that are going to the government. They are POSITIVE that the DemonRats will give tax cuts to the poor to offset, ( and then some), the higher gas taxes.
