I don't remember this event since I was a year and a half old... but I do remember seeing footage/pictures as time progressed.

Living in Florida at the time, I witnessed it first hand..............



One of three events in my life time I'll never forget.  May the seven continue to RIP.

I hear you.  I was watching live on TV in my library in High School.  I can't imagine seeing it live.

The morning this happened, I was in Denison, TX, on leave, packing my vehicle to head to Orlando for Navy Recruiting School. I was in shock for the remainder of the day.

I was at work and ran back to the breakroom to watch the launch.  What a deep sense of loss that day, truly tragic.

Sr. year government class for me. We were also watching it live. I can still picture Christa McAuliffe's mom and dad in the stands where the guests stood. The look of confusion and then absolute horror is still in my mind when I think of that day.

RIP brave souls.

ETA:  I watched this clip of St. Ronnie a few months ago. I love the way he spoke to the children of America.  He was a great man.

I was at Ft Campbell KY and I had CQ  duty that day. One of the guys i knew in the unit came walking by and said something about he Space Shuttle blowing up and I honestly thought he was pulling my leg. The day room was right next to me but the TV was off. I turned it on and for a short time there was nothing on then the news brerak came on and the reality set in.
