Indoor heating may contribute to obesity

Access to home indoor heating may be contributing to the obesity problem in the United States, the United Kingdom and other developed countries, according to a new study.

The University College London researchers said in a statement that reduced exposure to cold may impact the body’s ability to maintain a healthy weight

This sounds like a great idea for a practical joke.

For some reason, this actually makes some sense to me. That said, it merely validates one of my suspicions.

Wouldn't air conditioning also contribute?  Who wants to do much outside in 100 degree temperatures when you can sit inside in comfort?

Agree.

You won't catch me outside in the summer in Las Vegas... unless it's by the pool or running to the car just to crank the A/C in that.

This actually makes sense to me.  Take away the heat that keeps the body comfortable, and the body has to break down fats to maintain its' core temperature.

Gee , you mean how comfortable folks can be while sitting on their ass and doing nothing would have any bearing on how long they're content to sit on their ass and do nothing ?

Who'd have thunk it.
