And YES, given my life experiences, I think I'd know exactly what to do if I was stupid enough to be caught out on a boat where I shouldn't be when the shit hits the fan.  Damage control and all that.  They didn't give me those dolphins out of a Cracker Jack box.  Now the "water wings" they give to surface pukes, those are a different story.

And no, you cannot blame the Massholes for your predicament.

I stand corrected here and you are correct that your earned Dolphins is something to be very proud of. Both my sons are oh so proud their dads won them at a very young age.

  Both of my boy were eligible to go into the Sub service by their scores on tests ,one went to Maine Mariten Academy and the other into the Army-----Who knows why, their fathers,grandfather and great uncle had rode the boats, they marched to their own drummer.

Tell me  sparky, did you drink your Dolphins or pass that tradition go by.??

We are off subject here, and yes I do find fault with the outsiders that invade Maine and expect it to change to their own benefit.

I love the home State of mine and I get a huge laugh out of the new Governor that tells it like it is.    BTW I live in New Hampshire and I would never move back unless they drop the State income tax.----Not all of us Mainers are stupid.

Thanks for warning me off Tuscon, Boud; I'd kind of already figured out that they're more than a little Madison, WI-like there. Anyway, I want to get away from big cities, period, anywhere. The suburbs of a small city would be fine, and Sierra Vista is definitely that (small). I checked the population; around 44,000. Imagine that. A city that doesn't even hit 100,000--now that's my idea of sane living. I am DONE with large cities (well, when I retire). It's not normal, living pressed in with millions, always seeing people everywhere you turn.

Well, depends--how small you wanna get?  I know a lot of folks retired to places like Show Low, etc.  Depends on how much you like cold, you could try out Flagstaff.

Well, you would like Sierra Vista very much, except for the powerlessness of our local populace to have an effective conservative voice in Congress.  We have parts of liberal Tucson to thank/curse for our representation by Giffords. :argh:
However, today it's a high of around 60, low around 30, give or take several degrees.  I have the heater running and set to 72, but only because my grandson's bedroom gets colder than the rest of the house if I don't turn it on.

Personally, I LIKE the cold and snow and totally relished our tours in Germany.  Maybe though, as I'm over 50 now, the sunshine in summer and the mild winters aren't such a bad thing for the old bones....we have been known to have a snowfalke or two drop on us in summers past since we're up in the mountains but it's not so bad.

I've only been to Bath, ME, but I was quite impressed by the yard birds there.  Miles of difference beyween them and the buttdarts in Pascagoula.

Blecch!

Bath had lots of friendly people, was very clean and beautiful, and I am looking forward to going back. 

The women did seem to be rather large, though....

Bath is a beautiful place, if you get a chance , visit the maritime museum a few more miles down the road

We were driving the coast at one time north of Bath I believe and just happend to glimpse of a stone fortified complex flying the American flag in 3-4 places.    We got off the highway and meandered around until we found FORT KNOX.    We drove in, parked and began to look around to find this Fort had been a prison for the Confederates captured.  Huge underground vaults that housed everything from a medical dispensary to Officer quarters.  Big hundred + year old cannons pointing out to sea, lots of signs explaining what was what. 

Some of the underground chambers we could not explore as we had no flashlights but plenty of others had come equipped to do so.

I began to wish I had brought my metal detector with me and noticed tourists with maps of the area.   I asked someone where they got the map and they told us they are given out when you get to the entrance and pay to get in.---Pay to get in??????

We both felt so guilty about driving in before the staff had set up that we found the gift shop and bought $30.00 worth of souveneers and signed up for monthly news sent through the mail.
