Not the ones that old. When I came in they were turning M60A3's into artificial reefs in the Gulf of Mexico.
Still actually a very capable tank, just not as good as an M1A1/A2 or its foreign sisters, but then they cost several times as much. They'll kick a T55 or T62's ass, and there's plenty of those or their Chinese and Indian clones running around loose still. The '60A3s did about as well as the M-1s against Iraqi T-72s in Gulf, we lost a few of each but neither type suffered any total kills (Vehicle and all crew). We did actually sell a fair number of '60A1s (The upgrades to A3 are all relatively minor aftermarket subsystems though significant gunnery enhancements) to clients including Israel, Egypt and I believe even Iran, I seem to remember a hulked one in a pic of an Iran-Iraq war battlefield. The Israeli ones added lots of reactive armor boxes, mainly on the turrets, in the 80s, and are probably still in reserve there, and sitll a formidable vehicle with modern APFDS ammo. Ours are the only ones in reefs, the rest of them are still out there.
