I learned that when I was seven and showed up late for dinner.  I heard 'quarter' and thought 25 and not 15. 

I got yelled at.

Alternatively, you can always go with 42.

Say "quarter to 3" sometime to a kid and they will look at you with a puzzled look and a "huh?" Have to say 2:45 for them to know what time you are referring.

This is good stuff. Let me get this down.

Any other tips, Debk, on how to take advantage of children's unworldliness and confuse the hell out of them?

Wait until next Halloween. When a group comes to your door and says "Trick or Treat" look at them thoughtfully and answer, Trick.

Pi: the relationship between a circle's diameter and its circumfrence. And I didn't even have to look that up!
