DUmmies Discuss Kwanzaa
« on: December 27, 2010, 12:51:02 AM »
Well, now,  this was a close one. For a second, I was shocked and worried because I read the title line of DUmmy LLStarks's thread, and thought I agreed with him. Then I realized he was being a normal DUmmy, taking a position 180 degrees out of phase with the truth.

At least he gives the FR link. Maybe it will attract a budding young DUmmy who still has some remnant of normalcy. If he goes to FR, and it's on one of those increasingly rare days when the proprietor isn't having brain cramps, he may be saved from a lifetime of DUmmitude.

1. Well, it is none of the above.
But it is a contrived "holiday."

The same way July 4th is.

5. Ok... The Declaration has nothing to do with founding our country, it was the Founders' way of saying "Screw you, George!"

It also was not signed on the 4th by everyone.
In fact John Hancock signed it on the 3rd, and a couple signers didn't sign it until after the Revolutionary War.

So we are celebrating a day that was contrived as "The founding date of our nation."

7. Uh, no
July 4th is an actual US holiday since 1778, in observance of an actual historical event. Kwanzaa is contrived the same way Festivus is.

I read through the FR thread and only saw Communist tactics mentioned.

Islamofascist ploy? Guess that was added to spice up the thread

Ya got that right, KC!!!!

Not only do I maintain a "dude network," containing the names and numbers of guys I trust for everything from oil changes to electrical work, I have a Top Secret list of fellow conservatives. These are the people I really turn to for sage advice, constructive criticism, and most of all, to call me on my bullshit when I need to hear that I'm wrong.

Every year for Christmas, I get a stack of Starbucks gift cards.  I have about $50 this year alone.  I go buy beans in bulk, then grind em and prepare the coffee.  I have a coffee maker with an automatic timer, so I can smell it before I get out of bed.  Now, that IS decadence.   :-)

If I remember right .... Kwanzaa was/is none of the above.  If I remember right it was invented by a convict while still incarcerated and was nothing more than a ploy to get special privileges.  I'm not going to waste my time doing a search.

Surprised this is still at the DUmp.
NAMBLA is a left-wing organization.

There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site

In 1975, with newly-adopted views on Marxism, Karenga was released from California State Prison, and re-established the Us organization under a new structure. One year later, he was awarded his first doctorate. In 1977, he formulated a set of principles called Kawaida, a Swahili term for tradition. Karenga called on African Americans to adopt his secular humanism and reject other practices as mythical (Karenga 1977, pp. 14, 23, 24, 27, 44–5).

Central to Karenga's doctrine are the Nguzo Saba, the Seven Principles of Blackness, which are reinforced during the seven days of Kwanzaa.

HNC probably better stick to the 'secret knock' and passwords to identify who's serving him.  Either that our be one outstanding tipper!
