DU Blast from the Past (2006 discussion of unemployment)
« on: December 20, 2010, 02:00:25 PM »
Just to remind everyone of how the DUmmies viewed unemployment under Bush.  This thread is from 2006.

I heard there is an 4.7 unemployment rate from..

Lindsay Graham on meet the press. I notice everytime the republicons are discussing a subject on some show they throw in low unemployment Bush did it the other day while doing interviews sitting on the border of mexico. All repugs are doing it and puttin it some where in the discussion.

Everytime I hear it, it seems to go lower and lower before graham I everyone I heard was saying 5. something. Has anyone ever seen any democrat refute this point I haven't. They usually don't say anything and let this lie go unchallenged.

Actually closer to something like 10%

I undertand if you add in the long-term unmeployed - meaning discourage workers who are no longer actively looking for work - and people working part-time who need to work fulltime, it's closer to 10%. 10% really puts in recession-level territory.

How many times have you heard a 'lican say that "today's unemployment rate is the average rate of the 70's 80's and 90's" without any Democrat saying that the rate was over 7% the day Clinton took office and at 4% on the day he left? Or, that the national unemployment rate dropped every year under Clinton? It's been reported how Bush's administration has changed the way that the unemployment rate is being calculated, that is why it's at 4.7% which I've also heard 'licans proudly proclaim is "nearly at an all time historical low". Like everything else, more deceit and twisted facts.

Just a reminder of how awful the economy was under Bush, and how it was all Bush's fault, when unemployment was under 5%  :whistling:

So the DUmmies figured 4.7 was actually over 10 with a falling rate and a 26 week unemployment system. Now here we are at around 10 and rising with a new 3 year unemployment system. So can we use some DUmmie math and figure the true Obambi rate is somewhere near 30%?

When can we start calling it The Great New Millennium Democrat Depression?

Clintoon did it????????

What a joke! After 9/11 employment hit the skids big time! I lost my printing business for cryin' out loud! Bush cut taxes and got the economy rollin' again! Any asshat who tries to give Clintoon credit for that obviously believes Clinton never turned down the offer to get a hold of Bin Laden, Obwana's brother, either!
I'm the guy your mother warned you about!

Something happened in the beginning of 2007.  I forget what it was but since then the economy has gone in the crapper.  If I could just remember what that change was.  Something changed that had been successfully working since 1995.  Just can't put my finger on it.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Yep in 06 they said it was the worst economy since the depression.
If they only knew what was coming down the line.  :lmao:

I posted a chart yesterday showing how UE increased since feb of 2009 up until today.
I know something happened in 2009 but, I just can't seem to recall what it was. There was a big party or something that kicked it off.

Could it have been the release of the last Star Wars movie?
Oh wait that was 06.
Harry Potter perhaps?
Nope
hmmm I think Nancy something or other got a promotion that year to some important job.
Yeah that's it.

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.
