Clearwater:  When John Ditullio goes on trial on Monday, jurors will not see the large swastika tattooed on his neck. Or the crude insult tattooed on the other side of his neck. Or any of the other markings he has acquired since being jailed on charges related to a double stabbing that wounded a woman and killed a teenager in 2006.

Mr. Ditullio's lawyer successfully argued that the tattoos could be distracting or prejudicial to the jurors, who under the law are supposed to consider only the facts presented to them. The case shows some of the challenges lawyers face when trying to get clients ready for trial -- whether that means hitting the consignment shop for decent clothes for an impoverished client or telling wealthy clients to leave the bling at home.

I hope we shall... crush in its birth the aristocracy of our moneyed corporations, which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength and bid defiance to the laws of our country." --Thomas Jefferson to George Logan, 1816.

This is bullshit.

Why can't they put the perp on a closed circuit TV system, then blank out the screen entirely so that the jurors don't see him at all?

He's still getting a trial and a jury by his peers - it's simply that they don't get to see him in person. Is there something written in the Florida law that says that a defendant has to be physically present in court??

I'm not even going to discuss doing a laser treatment to get rid of the tattoos. Screw that.

Just put his ass on CCTV and don't bother putting a camera on the perp.

Nah, let him have his laser tatoo removal, on the stipulation that it's fair game for the prosecution to bring up. "Sir, I understand that you had to have this case continued over for 3 months.  Why is that?"

Really?! Did someone force the punk to get those tattoos or did he do so on his own?
I think they should use a scapel to remove his tattoos.

I can well understand why the tats were covered.   BUT does this mean that anyone on trial that is naturally Ugly to the bone, so bad it may make someones dog to howl gets a NY do-over also?

Unfortunately it is not the wild tattooed freaks that are to be feared.  One sees them and in on guard.   It is the smooth talkers and very good looking men like Ted Bondy that are real monsters.

While we are at it, what happend to the school teacher on trial for molesting her young students that had her Lawyer state that she was too beautiful to go to jail.?
