Online Mahjongg
« on: March 29, 2008, 05:49:45 PM »
Is there a strategy or something for maximum pointage? I am wondering because a woman at another forum kicks my butt. Of course, I just do basic pattern matching but there must be a trick.

Cold weather usually results in maximum pointage.  Or pointeosity.

I played Mahjongg a couple of times online but I didn't even know it could be a two person game.  I just do the basic pattern matching.  Still I was able to figure it out unlike that seppuku game everyone was so nuts about a year or so ago.

I wonder if one got Mahjongg tiles if they can be lined up like dominoes?  That might be fun.

I think you can play two person, but I am just playing one person. I am just trying to overcome this person's insane high score.

That reminds me of the Mahjongg game at the other board I post at (they have an Arcade built in).  The guy with the high-score is around 970,000.   I can't beat that! LOL

I've never played a two-person version.  Sounds like it would be more fun, actually

Two person would have to be timed and scored on the amount of tiles you were able to match, other than that is a one person brain game.

Okay, while I was pouting because you shot down my idea of setting them up like dominoes, I remembered is some of the strategery is to try and not remove tiles that will make you get stuck later, depending on the complexity of the board, you sort of zone it off to more critical to uncover to less critical to uncover.

The one I used to play didn't let you go back so that made it more difficult to learn the game and develop strategeries. When I made a blunder I always had to start over with a new board.

I totally love the idea of dominos.  :-)

I can see that you must strategically uncover the tiles, especially if they are stacked. But speed must be key. Perhaps you even get extra points for doing them in order. I just don't understand how people can rack up huge scores. I mean I am slow, but I am certainly not retarded.  :lmao:

Oh yeah, speed was a key too, I forgot about that 'cause usaully I didn't uncover all the tiles.  Sometimes there can be a bug too. I mean it's possible this person has just played so much Mahjongg that she has an intuitive feel for the game but maybe she found some sort of bug to exploit?

There used to be this game I played back in the day called Wolfenstein 3-D and on one level if a guard came out of this normally locked door and you killed him you could run to the exit and get an insane amount of points for beating the par score by a whole lot more than honestly running through and getting the right keys and stuff.
