Interesting observation, WE. Definitely food for thought and I tend to agree that you're correct.

But it's difficult to connect the dots between Fox and Williams except to the point that Williams made his comment on O'Reilly's show.

If Obama is waging jihad on Fox, it seems to me all he accomplished was to put all this drama between Williams and NPR out there in the open where the bad guy - NPR - is being tried, judged, and executed in the court of public opinion.

So is Obama actually limiting our liberties? Not so much in this case - Williams has been all over TV-land and the innerwebz of late - and, as his op-ed indicates, there is definitely evidence as to the left-wind bias that NPR has -- which has never been a secret anyway.

being on the o'reilly show was williams' only offense.  that is the whole point.  and for it, the paranoid environment that obama has created made it possible for the loonier loonies at NPR to cut his head off.  this was a message that was sent to the followers and fellow travelers;  isolate fox news.  do not participate.  don't even give them a chance to appear balanced.  I have heard much the same indirect threats against liasson and beckel.  (not so much colmes;  he's rather insignificant)

the liberals are always blathering about the unintentional "chilling effect" of various actions or decisions.  my argument is that this is a message sent sent to the followers with the intention of having a "chilling effect".  the fact that it is boomeranging on them doesn't not wipe the villainy nor immorality of the thing from them;  it just means they are incompetent at this, too.

Will Mara Liasson be the next target for NPR or would it be too obvious?

I'm surprised the President hasn't actually commented on this yet.

that's probably because the fawning press hasn't asked the question.   they are afraid of exposing their collusion with this white house.  he doesn't have to answer questions that aren't asked.

he seems to have learned his lesson about just volunteering His Holy Opinion on topics just because the uneducated masses (a.k.a., the american people) are deceived, deluded, and ignorant without His guidance.  I am sure it kills him to not expound endlessly on every topic under the sun, but he did blow himself up a few times speaking out about things that just weren't necessary -- at least right then.

oh, and the fact that juan got axed immediately after o'reilly spectacularly transgressed against Teh Messiah's chosen people, i.e., muslims, on that dreary liberal chick show is NOT mere coincidence.  it is, in fact, probably the spark that lit the fuse.

No kiddin'! Where the hell is the call for WhooptyDoo's and BayWhore's resignation for their complete unprofessional antics at "The View"? Ya think either one of these "babes", ( and I use that term loosely ), would even entertain the thought of goin' on FOX and debating an issue? O'Reilly manned up and took them on in their own den, so to speak!

Since when is that sort of behavior encouraged on a National TV show? It's downright embarrassing! What must the rest of the world think when the most powerful nation the planet has ever experienced, acts like 5 year olds throwing a fit, then taking their ball and goin' home?

Classless c...ts! Sorry to our lady fair here, but I just can't think of any other adjective to describe my contempt for those two!

Yes, the 'tolerant' left wants her fired too.

LOL.  2009.  george bush was president from 2000-2008.  it was okay to dump on the white house then. :whatever:  but the second the liberal's Blessed Holy One ascended into heaven, the rules changed.  and you will notice that it wasn't far into Teh Messiah's reign that it became a violation of journalistic ethics to question His Holy Policies.

The left is becoming more aggressive at shutting down free speech, this is only one instance.  Take a look at George S. and his manipulation of the media.

Just this week, Mark Steyn's appearance in London, Ontario was cancelled because of Muslim complaints, then there's the U.S. org. Avaaz attempting to shut down a proposed conservative news channel, the march against opposing dissent is chilling.

Is there an area here for links and articles exposing the left wing attacks on free speech and intolerance towards opposing views ?

So called 'progressivism' is so full of self-contradictions and pseudo-science that they would have nothing without suppression of free speech.

Yep. The people who said 'Dissent Is Patriotic' when George W. Bush was president are now crushing dissent.

Juan Williams is sitting in for O'reilly tonight. I wonder if this was scheduled or if they are just taking advantage of this controversy.  Bill does take a lot of Fridays off, so it could have been planned.

it's probably a combination of things.  first, it's just good business.  juan will attract more eyes right now than he ever will, and more than anyone else in mediadom could right now.  and, whatever else fox news channel is, it's well run;  he needs to start earnin' that $2M. :-)

but mostly they are just rubbing it in. :fuelfire:

He takes O'Reilly's place about once a month, if not more often. Seems to switch mostly between him and Laura Ingraham.

Damn it! I figured he'd leave it alone since it's O'Reilly's show! I'll have to watch it on the backside later tonight when they re-run it!

they are going to rerun the show where BOR said, "I've got your back, Williams", tomorrow and Sunday.  I missed that one (quite frankly, I find BOR self absorbed and tedious at times), but I have read that Juan was quite affected by BOR's support.

Good!  I recorded it and will watch later.  He sure god a bad rap.

He always seemed like an extreme liberal before this.  I really don't know his stance since.

I'm watching the rerun of it now....

Juan is seriously pissed....he's citing things on NPR that are acceptable.....they are all slams against the Tea Party and GOP. Good for him!!

Maybe all this will wake up some liberals and make them realize that things are not as they have been seeing them.

Maybe....
