'Hawaii Five-O' premiere review: The new season's fun surprise
« on: September 21, 2010, 07:59:05 PM »
This is a re-imagining of the original 1968-1980 series. The new version is sort of like Miami Vice meets Hawaii Five-O. This version also has an ensemble cast, whereas the original revolved around Jack Lord.

I watched the pilot. I liked it. Not great, but good. I'll probably watch it again. If it goes the PC route or starts sucking quality wise, I'll drop it. I don't watch much network TV these days anyway.

The new Hawaii Five-O could have been just another gussied-up TV re-launch (no, I’m not a big fan of 90210). Instead, Hawaii‘s premiere episode was fun: Swift, sometimes funny, well-cast, especially in the supporting roles. It’s sure not anything approaching revolutionary TV, but right now, it’s solid 10 p.m.-Monday entertainment.

Couldn't have been any worse than Knight Rider.

If you're looking for great TV, this is not it. But I found the pilot show entertaining, and I wasn't expecting much to begin with.

It was entertaining. Lots of action, pointless bra and panties bit of the hot chick...

I'm sorry I went to bed after the opening sequence.  I wanted to hear the theme.

I haven't seen any of it, nor do I intend to (network TV sucks worse than cable/dish, but it all sucks in one way or another), but the best part is they kept the music from the original, as composed by Mort Stevens.

Harmonium Brass (my quintet) commissioned a good friend to arrange it for brass quintet. It's ass-kicking. I'll post some of the score later today in this thread.

If it ain't revolutionary TV, I'll be watching Monday Night football or something saved on my DVR.

New season of Fringe just arrived in the mail (Netflix)........................pass.

Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”
