Says you.  I'm on the Virginia eastern shore.  Got some 25 mph winds, a little rain, and the sun was shining before it went down tonight.  Same shit on tap for most of the rest of the eastern seaboard.

Oh, the humanity!!!!

C'mon dude......THAT was like two days ago.   :thatsright:  Glad all is well on the VA eastern shore.  I worried for the horseys.  Great place to spend a long weekend, for sure.

Horses will be fine, they have weathered storms on that island before.

Don't worry Sparky, your day is coming.  It's been along time since y'all in the far north have experienced a hurricane.  A large bullet was dodged by us here in coastal NC who saw Earl and Gaston and could only remember Dennis 1 and 2 and two weeks later Floyd, who brought 500 and 1000 year floods to eastern NC.  That was 11 years ago and we had plenty of em before and plenty of em since.

Though I will agree that the weather channel and others get a little excited and over blow the situation

Where were you in February?  I seem to recall 90 mph winds that night.  I also seem to recall losing my power for a week and having trees down in the road pretty much everywhere until we went out and cut them up.

Like I said, I've seen more weather up here than I ever dreamt of in CA.  All I need now is another "blizzard of '78" and it'll pretty much be complete.

From what the 2011 Farmer's Almanac seems to be predicting, you just may get that this year.  I hope that the shit stays east of NY, though I'm not holding my breath.  I do remember that one of the teachers who lives a floor below me said last year that she was wishing for a snow day.  She finally got one, but at the end of the season.

Got a link to that?  I'm kind of curious what they've got in store.

And yeah, that night sucked ass.  The week after cleaning up and getting power back sucked worse.

What does a blizzard have to really do with this. Well at least you had a road to go cut up trees on, after floyd we had new streams and creeks, same with Isabelle, we even got a 2000 yard 20 foot deep Inlet at Hatteras Village, three new inlets on Core Banks.

Regardless we all have bad weather, my point was its been along time since the NE experienced a hurricane not whether your weather is worse or not.  Yet go ahead and tell me how so many hurricanes aren't that bad

Can't find the story, but I did find some stuff about buying one.  I may go out in a bit and get one.  Borders is 3/4ths a mile from me.

I never said hurricanes weren't bad.  My point is that we've had hurricane-FORCE winds up here within the past 6 months.

And yeah, we've had some pretty nasty flooding.  2 years in a row of 100 year floods, one winter of all-time record snow, one week of near record-low temps (and in some locales, broke the all-time records), ice storms, tornadoes, earthquakes, damaging golf ball sized hail, and drought.

That's all in the last FOUR years.  I'm not saying yours is better or worse, but please don't pretend that just because a Cat 4 hasn't made landfall in Portsmouth in the last 100 years that we don't get our fair share, believe me.  I've learned that the hard way since leaving Californuckistan.

It appears that Vesta's "blow job" turned out to be little more than a knob slobber........
