Much to My Dismay
« on: May 31, 2010, 04:43:09 PM »
The power went out AGAIN this morning at 0445. Thanks to my Uninterruptable power supply,(UPS), I was able to shut things (computers, etc) down nicely. Unfortunately, I am unable to sleep when this happens. Being somewhat prepared, I broke out the propane lanterns and the small cook stove I recently purchased. Much to my dismay, I only had coffee beans. Finally, I figured out that I might be able to use my UPS to grind some coffee. I plugged it in and was able to grind enough coffee to fill the coffee container. I used the camp stove percolator , et voila, fresh coffee!!  :-) Inga even prepared a grilled ham & cheese for breakfast.

Power outages are just nature's way of helping us save on utilities.  Sometimes it's more generous with it's help than at other times.

And the same tale on DU would be quite different :-)
I can see November 2 from my house!!!

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

On the serious side, I've seen better power supplied in third world countries. Oncor is a piece of shit provider and a complaint to the PUC is going out tomorrow. There were storms this morning, but they were AFTER the power dropped.

Last week at about 9:17 AM our power went out. No weather whatsoever.

AT 10:12 it was restored by Oncor.

Apparently my Oncor is better than your Oncor.
