By Devlin Barrett
The White House is standing by Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, who admitted this week to having misstated his military service on some occasions, but insisted he never intentionally meant to claim he had served in Vietnam.

The controversy had threatened to derail Blumenthal’s campaign for U.S. Senate to replace retiring Democratic Sen. Chris Dodd.

When asked about Blumenthal today, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Blumenthal had “our continued support.’’

This evening, Blumenthal is expected to be the choice of the majority of delegates at the Connecticut Democrats’ convention. On the Republican side, former Rep. Rob Simmons is competing with businesswoman Linda McMahon for the party’s nod.

What's a little stolen valor among that bunch?

That asshole didn't misstate it.  He outright lied about it.

Come on Fgl, the white House has no respect for veterans much less the men and woman serving today.

Don't you get the drift my friend, Obama has no respect for anyone or anything except for his own crazed ideas.

See, vesta?  It's not that hard if you try.  Nice take.

But back O/T, does this SERIOUSLY surprise anyone after Kerry, et al?  Now don't get me wrong--there have been some serious heroes who have been Democratic pols, like former Senator Glenn, JFK, and folks like that.  But now we're in the Kerry-era, where while it's not an impediment to having served as it might have been in the 1970's and 80's, the DNC only gives a shit about veterans or veteran candidates because it APPEARS to give them some sort of credibility on foreign policy, at least superficially.
