I am in a cult. This Kool-aid tastes good!

The unicorns are playing again.

Quote from:
Cant trust em

So I just watched the speech. I can't help but feeling like I'd walk off a cliff if this guy asked me to. Though I may agree with the politics of John Edwards more, Obama gets me more motivated. I agree with most of his issues, but it's his communication that lures me in. I'm still young, so I haven't seen that many candidates come by, but when I see Obama speak I want to get out and work to help him win. This wasn't the case with Gore in 2000 or Kerry in 04. It certainly isn't the case with Clinton 08. Obama is the first national politician that I've felt personally connected to. You can call me naive. You can call me blinded by personality. A candidate who is able to rally people together and get people excited about their political process is special. This feeling doesn't come around that often. When it does we should harness it's potential all the way to the White House.

edit - Walking off a cliff is just an expression. Don't take it too seriously.

Key word: feeling.

3. "I can't help but feeling like I'd walk off a cliff if this guy asked me to"

And a bunch of Obama supporters would be right behind you smiling as they walked off the edge. This is scary.

Don't be completely stupid.  You Clinton cultists are just as bad.

Quote from:
cboy4

9. That's the part this is scary, yes. For anyone to be so enamored with a politician is terrifying.

Look in the mirror.

Quote from:
quinnox

12. this forum has shown me how many people are really like that. An eye-opener and it explains how some people do become real cultists and mesmerized by strong personality figures like David Koresh and so many others.

Pot, meet kettle.

Quote from:
jkshaw

18. Scary? Hardly. It reminds me of the love for FDR that I felt all around me when I was very young. In fact, Barack Obama is the first candidate for office that I've actually been excited about since then.

The buzzword, Cool Aid, was not current then to ridicule the enthusiasm for FDR who was looked upon by many of the down and out as a savior, and who was hated by the rich, the powerful, and the corrupt. But if what I feel for a transformative candidate like Obama is "drinking the cool aid," if what I feel is "scary" to behold, then so be it. Your loss.

No loss here, whacko.  Drink in all you want.

4. its good koolaid more plz

5. imo he makes us believe in our own ability to create the world we envision...

Now, go to his site and sign up to call voters in PA!

Hope.  Osama believes in hope and hopes for a future filled with hope.

Quote from:
Juniperx

Look into my eyes, what do you see?
Cult of personality
I know your anger, I know your dreams
Ive been everything you want to be
Im the cult of personality
Like mussolini and kennedy
Im the cult of personality
Cult of personality
Cult of personality

Nailed it.  But I bet you're still a Clinton cultist.

Quote from:
ziggysane

8. You're not the only one.

Although, I wouldn't walk off a cliff at his request, I certain to feel a connectedness with Obama. When he came to Seattle and came outside to say hi to the people who couldn't get in to Key Arena to see him speak but were hanging around anyway, it was like... I don't know he gives off this HOPE pheromone or something cause by simply being within 20 feet of the guy I was tearing up and felt a renewed sense of pride in the US that I've been missing all of my adult life.

Yeah you would, liar.  You'd gladly walk off a cliff for him.

Quote from:
democrattotheend

17. I have to admit, me too

Usually I am pretty rational about my support for Obama, but right now I am totally gaga and dreaming about a world of possibilities.

Rational.  :snicker:

What a bunch of freakin' headcases.  And you Clintonistas are just as bad with your worship of Billary.  It just funny watching a group of kooks calling the other side a group of kooks.

Wow...just when I think these people can't get any worse, they prove me wrong. They're downright scary. It's a good thing they don't have any real power.

Juniperx nails it.  Hits the 82-mph fastball, with no movement in the middle of the strike zone, off the facade of the (Yankee?) Stadium.

Like I've said before these people would be in Hitler youth if it were the 1930's.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

And WE'RE the jackbooted thugs??? Sheesh!!!!!
I can see November 2 from my house!!!

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Remember the scene in The Omen where Damien is at his birthday party and his nanny climbs out on the balconey shouting, "It's all for you, Damien!", then jumps off, hanging herself?

Same thing.

LOL Too true. Hell, I'll build them some if they really want to prove their devotion. :-)
