Justified - new show on FX
« on: April 03, 2010, 04:15:55 PM »
Okay, Dixie has a little crush on the lead actor - Timothy Olyphant.  :-) :innocent: :naughty:

Anyone else watching? I've seen every episode so far. #4 is next week on Tuesday night.

This show rocks!! U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens is my kind of man.

For the ladies - http://www.fxnetworks.com/shows/originals/justified/episode.php

About the show -
JUSTIFIED is the story of Deputy U.S. Marshal RAYLAN GIVENS (Timothy Olyphant), a true-blue hero and something of a throwback, given to wearing a Stetson and cowboy boots, carrying his sidearm in a hip holster – a weapon he only draws when he has to, and when he does, he shoots to kill, because, as he sees it, that’s the purpose of a gun.

Raylan was born and reared in the hill country of eastern Kentucky.   It was in Harlan where he played ball, chased girls and dug coal.  And it was from Harlan, at age 19, that he ran, determined to become a U.S. Marshal.  Now, years later, after shooting a gun thug in a Miami hotel and thereby incurring the wrath of his Marshals Service superiors, Raylan has been sent in punishment (and by fate?) to the one place to which he vowed he would never return – Kentucky.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Guess we should check it out.....Harlan's just north of here.  :-)

I've seen the previews for it, just haven't watched it. FX and SyFy have some really good shows.

FX and AMC are getting to be my two favorite networks, between Mad Men, Breaking Bad, The Shield, Sons of Anarchy, and now this.

Did you watch The Warehouse when it was on SyFy back in the summer? I think it must be getting ready to start soon, because they are running all the ones from then.

The three episodes are on my DVR, haven't gotten around to watching yet.  They ran promos last fall during Sons of Anarchy, and it looked pretty good.

Ralph - you'll love it! I have watched the re-runs and can't wait for the new ep. this Tuesday. And yes, I'm totally checking him out!! Timothy Olyphant is so cute. :-)

The writing is great! The characters are based on Elmore Leonard's stories.

Some of my favorite lines so far:

"Would you shoot me if you got the chance?" - Boyd Crowder
"You make me pull, I'm gonna put you down." - Raylen Givins
(said with a slight grin)

"I gotta ask, why the hat?" - Rachel

"I tried it on one time and it fit." - Raylen

Love that show.  Loved him in everything he has done too.  My whole family is from just West of Harlan.  There are some of the greatest people on Earth and some of the worst ones there too.  It should be a long lived show if they don't make every KY citizen look like some inbred moron.

Have seen two episodes and really like it.

Of course, Tim plays almost the same person that he did in Deadwood- well...maybe a bit less angry.

I was hoping that Walton Goggins would have a bigger role on the show.  I hope he gets back on there at some point.  I loved him as a cop in The Shield but I really loved him as a redneck nazi prick on Justified!

Mama - he's signed on for most of the season. In the short story this show is in part based on, Boyd dies when Raylan shoots him. They decided to keep him alive and use him in more episodes. I just went to fx.com and watched all of the video clips and the sneak peeks look great! I can't wait!

Just watched the first episode last night on ON Demand -- great show!  I liked Tim Olyphant in Deadwood although I didn't watch all the seasons.

LOlZ mama! Yeah, last night's episode was freaking awesome.

I really think the hat should get second billing when the credits roll though. The scene at the end with him asleep and the girl trying on his hat.  :naughty:

God, he knows how to work that cowboy/lawman thing.

Funniest line - "Oh you mean that little gay dude?" "Rollie are you trying to tell me you're gay?!" - This is in reply to Rollie (the guy he was chasing telling him he became a dentist because of the elf in Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer)

Wasn't he on Spin City or some other such show?  He was looking old then.

He was probably mid-late 20's (same as Matthew Broderick) when he did Ferris Bueller.

Some of my favorite Raylan lines so far....

RAYLAN: Lot can go wrong with a draw.
CURTIS: Yeah?
RAYLAN: Well, sure. I mean, it takes practice to draw clean. Suppose your front sight catches as you’re pulling, or, uh- [draws his gun] -Well, now that went well, but suppose my thumb hit the mag release. [hits the mag release] Now as I’m raising my weapon- [mimics the sound of something hitting the ground] -my ammo hit the ground. Hopefully I got one in the chamber, but…you gonna bet your life on that?

“Let’s keep this simple. He pulled first. I shot him.”

“You think you can rack in a load before I put a hole through you?”
